Guest Access:
The property will be exclusively yours to enjoy.
**Due to a steep driveway gradient and mountainous road access, especially as the weather is colder & wetter, we strongly recommend All-Wheel Drive or 4x4 vehicles in order to safely commute to the cabin. If during the winter months there is snow, we also recommend bringing chains or studded tires as this area can be nearly inaccessible otherwise when it is icy. So please be keen to check the weather and please adjust accordingly. There will be additional street parking that will provided for an extra vehicle or those who do not feel comfortable with the gradient of the driveway **
The Neighborhood:
When you arrive to this cabin after climbing the steep hills of Lookout Mountain, you will no doubt have gained some elevation! This particular area of Sudden Valley is unique due to its topography. Most residents are driving AWD & 4x4 vehicles for a reason. The cabin is situated on a peaceful cul-de-sac with plenty of privacy. The ecosystem is certainly alive with plenty of biodiversity right outside your doorstep. The people may not be the most out-going. Some are of course, but are generally very respectable and friendly. There are a mix of cabins and family residences that give the neighborhood a safe and laid-back environment. Sudden Valley is distinctly its own community and has a very PNW vibe. Additionally, the Sudden Valley Community Center is nearby in Gate 2, which has a pool & fitness center which you can purchase affordable day passes for entry.
Getting Around:
The pleasant community of Sudden Valley is located on the Southwest shore of Lake Whatcom, which is 15 minutes from the city of Bellingham to your West. Heading South from Bellingham will lead you to the historic Fairhaven District and just a bit further South will lead you to the beautiful coastal Chuckanut Mountains which have unrivaled views of the San Juan Islands! There is plenty to explore in the North Puget Sound.
To the Northeast of Sudden Valley is Mount Baker and the North Cascades National Park. On your way to the North Cascades, you'll pass through the best of what Whatcom County has to offer as you ascend to the mountains. The small towns of Maple Falls & Glacier will keep you fueled up as you travel.
Of course, you can take a trip about one hour North on I-5 and head to Vancouver, B.C. and get a big city experience. In between the Bellingham area and the border are plenty of growing communities, such as, Ferndale & Blaine which have plenty to offer as you travel North. This cabin is certainly located in an excellent neck of the woods, and you will be able to have an authentic Pacific Northwest experience!
