Liked the character and quirky character. Didn't like ..
Made us spend one night in another hotel because of repairs. Not senior friendly.
Lovely traditional Chinese courtyard property, with original features, large spacious room, wooden floorboards and lovely bamboo plants, also had 2 resident turtles. The staff here were all lovely and helpful to us, they always greet us with a friendly smile and made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was delicious especially the vegetarian dumplings. The area is right in the heart of the forbidden city, everything is walking distance and very busy. Highly recommended

Great location in authentic Chinese hutong
Great location but very hard to find after dark. Good breakfast with límited choices. This authentic Chinese hutong converted to hotel has a lot of charm. Our family of four felt safe there. Most staff spoke a little English. As is typical for China, the beds are very hard. AC would not stay on while we were out for the day so we came back to a rather warm room after a long day in the heat. Our bathroom had an exhaust fan in the window that connected to the kitchen which was rather odd. We could hear the kitchen noises (chopping etc.) early in the morning. Overall it was a good place to stay and we were grateful for a room that would accommodate a family of four. The location is within walking distance to subway station, Forbidden City, Tienamen Square, and Wangfujiang pedestrian street. We would stay there again.

If you want your accommodations to be part of your Beijing experience, this hotel is the place. The location is unbeatable, and the historical building/room furnishings make it charming. The staff were great and it was very clean. The only downside is the plumbing, but that's hard to avoid in a historical building. We are a family of 5 and found it very comfortable. It's a short walk to fantastic sight seeing, the shopping district, and fantastic restaurants all around. Would highly recommend!
Great location and beautiful hotel building. The room, particularly the bathroom, needed some updating, but the staff and breakfast are spectacular. I speak no Mandarin and the gentleman who works the front desk went above and beyond to help with reaching my booked tour guides, booking taxis, etc.
A hotel with a lot of character in a great part of Beijing.

Best location in Beijing!
If you like experiencing more local lifestyle, can do without tv and fancy amenities of modern hotels you can find anywhere - this is definitely for you! Our double room had a king bed, armoire closet, small couch, adequate bathroom facilities. We only used the room to shower and sleep - either out walking or on tours where the guides picked us up at the hotel. The only concern was mold in the corner of the room, (fair condition) explained away by "this is an old building" - right, this IS in the very old central part of the city, one block walk to Forbidden City! This hotel is location, location, location!! The proprietors were helpful; the breakfast dumplings were delicious. Definiitely recommend the experience!
Perfect. Receptionist spoke very good english, room was clean and beautiful, breakfast was nice (could've Been bigger but taste was great), location was perfect and everything went well.

I did not stay in this hotel since it was double booked. I was then sent to another motel which was way below the standard as I expected and paid for. My experience in Beijing turned out terrible. I could not sleep very much in this bad motel which was badly maintained and some guests started talking extremely laoud at 3:00 am. I felt that I was cheated on this booking.
