"This was one of my ultimate Onsen destination for a long time. I read an article about this place being one of the top 5 go-to-onsen not only for Japanese and Onsen lovers all over the world as you need to operate cable car down to the below Iya Valley to enjoy outside onsen with spectacular views. I enjoyed both male and female side in 2 days and I was simply overwhelmed by the scenery. Only down side was the water is not hot enough as it is a naturally flowing onsen water without heating up. Kaiseki was unique since they cooked local fresh water seafood mostly which was a rare for travelers to enjoy. Indoor onsen was also great as well. Only negative part was we were checked into 6th floor and my mom had a difficult time to go down and up to lobby for cable car Onsen, basement for indoor Onsen, Kaiseki was 5th fl but breakfast was at the lobby level. For elderly customer, try to get a room near the lobby just in case."

"Hotel is near the Oboke station which is why we booked it. Excellent hospitality as the hotel customised to its guests. We had a crane origami from the Singapore national flag in our room. At the dining table, the national flag was also displayed. The hotel provides pick up and drop off shuttle service to the Oboke station. The kaiseki dinner is not really that impressive as I had better ones from other hotels in other parts of Japan Hotel gave discount vouchers for the Oboke boat rides so make sure you collect it before going to the boat centre."

"Short 2 day driving stay in a traditional Japanese hotel. Very nice indeed. Management were very accommodating. "

"We loved our Japanese style room and the beautiful view. Also, they were able to accommodate our vegan diet and the food was delicious. "

"We stayed at Awaikeda ekimae-shop as we planned to do rafting at beautiful Yoshino river. We stayed at Awaikeda honmachi which is a private house but ekimae-shop has 5 rooms and toilet and showers are all shared. The place is basic but clean. We were 6 of us, sleeping on futon on tatami floor in one room. Am glad that our children experienced a proper Japanese sleeping style!"
