Excellent family lake get away
Fantastic cove on the lake with some of the easiest lake access on the lake. House has everything you need or want. The drive to the house is worth it! Will do it again!

Wow!
This place is amazing! Coffee on that deck overlooking the lake just hits differently. Everything you need. Kids loved it. They enjoyed the lake and outdoors during the day and had the whole downstairs to relax at night. Very nice place!

Private and relaxing
My wife and I wanted a quiet place in the woods all to ourselves, and Moon Shadow Lodge was ideal. The lodge made us feel like we were in a treehouse in the forest canopy, and we enjoyed sitting on the deck watching all the birds and looking out over the lake. We also enjoyed hiking on the nearby Turtle Trail where we saw some turtles. We kayaked on the lake, went swimming, took naps in our hammock, watched movies on the big couch in the living room, played pool in the downstairs game room, and soaked in the jacuzzi tub upstairs. Everything was wonderful!

Secluded
We elected this remote cabin in Arkansas for our summary get away with family and friends. The cabin is situated between two streams looking out at a beautiful lake. It takes about 10 minutes from the main gate to travel on the graded road that winds around, and up and down (both vehicles, 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive, did fine even with the rain showers). The owner allowed us to charge our Tesla, too! There was plenty of room for the seven of us especially with 3 bathrooms (one on each floor). We enjoyed hiking (around the cabin, Mt. Nebo and Petit Jean), kayaking, roasting marshmallows, and playing games. Overall, it was a great vacation!

Awesome Family Weekend
Fabulous time. Beautiful property right on the lake. Stocked with everything you need and then some. Definitely need a 4 wheel drive getting in and out! We had a blast!!

We loved this lodge. Have everything that my family needed. We spent lots of time swimming. The water was great this time of the year. The house deck has an amazing view and you can watch and listen to the birds.

This is a very remote setting. Even
It wasn’t until the booking was complete, that the details of the roads and the seclusion were really revealed. We are all over 60 and the terrain was more than we anticipated.

great lodge and grounds
One could imagine they were the 1st there. The grounds are unmolested and appears to be the way it was a hundred years ago.Beautiful and breathtaking.The lodge is a wonder how it got there. Mountain Lake Home Getaway
This cabin is an awesome getaway at the bottom of a hillside forest. Switchback roads required to get in, but we had two two wheel drive vehicles handle it with no issue. One a Cadillac car. Between the basement game room, canoes, walks up the mountain and along the shore, October playoff baseball, campfire, and good food we planned and bought before getting there- we never left. Dugan was super responsive. House is great. Bathrooms and big walk in showers are great, with blow up mattresses this house could sleep 20. I’m sure this is a Great Lake house in the summer with the water just yards away.

Amazing 3 story cabin on private cove with trails and everything you could dream of !!!
The owner is amazing, he picked a beautiful piece of lake front property to build a rustic luxury huge cabin, arguably one of the most beautiful homes on the lake, pool table downstairs, a two story fireplace to cuddle up on any floor. A gorgeous wrap around deck, cozy beds, gourmet kitchen, I mean if u didn’t go outside you would have sn amazing vacation but go outside and sit on back porch and look at the lake!! Walk down to the beach and stroll around, it’s all yours !! Be sure to ask for property map, he has all the private trails and points of interest marked on it for you to explore!! It’s a huge piece of land. A week stay and you could not see everything!! The beach access was gorgeous with so many different spots to sunbathe on the rocky cliffs or watch the stars at nite !! We loved this place. Loved it

Wonderful property and location!
We had a fantastic time at Moonshadow Lodge! Our party included 5 teens and an eight year old. The property was very clean and had everything we could need…we cooked every night and grilled. The kids loved fishing off the property and caught bass, bream, sun perch, and catfish. They also had a blast canoeing and kayaking, swimming, hiking Turtle Trail, and playing pool, ping pong and football. We took a couple days and went trout fishing on the Little Red River and limited out on rainbow trout. We also rented a pontoon boat and took the kids tubing! The view from the lodge is just beautiful! Great responsiveness and communication from the owner and we never had any issues! The kids had an absolute blast and we would rent this place again in a heartbeat! Thanks for sharing this beautiful place!

Amazing place overall
This place is wonderful! This cabin itself is beautiful. We enjoyed the game room and spent every night playing games with a fire burning in the fireplace. Mornings on the deck with coffee were nice too. There is a great view. It's a relatively easy walk to the water but it is not just a simple walk out the back door. Bring your own fishing poles. We forgot to grab ours and were sad about it. The roads coming in are not for the inexperienced. You want to come in when it's daylight and pay attention to the signs! My only real gripe is about the hot tub. It's a garden tub with jets in the upstairs bathroom. I was told it fills with filtered well water but still had a yellow tint from some mineral left over. I was okay with that but I was not okay with the dirt floating around. I would check your water for dirt before getting in. We'd definitely come back, just no baths next time!

Most amazing Seclusion and Relaxation
Dugan was wonderful in explaining everything to us. This was the most amazing place, exactly what the pictures show and much, much more. We caught huge fish and the game room was where the grandchildren stayed most of the time. The house is set where every room is separated and you have your own privacy. There wasn't one thing we needed. He supplied everything. The canoe and kayaks were wonderful to go out and fish with or just for paddling down the lake. The master bedroom is wonderful with walk in closet and most amazing bathroom. Every shower was stone and beautiful. You never want to leave. The only downfall was leaving.

A secluded Paradise
This place is amazing. The photos do not do it justice. As a realtor I would suggest that the owner invest in some professional photos. No doubt this place would stay booked!! There is a beautiful private cove that we spend most of our time in with the kids. The water activities and supplies were an extra bonus. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 with room to spare. The only thing is the store is a good distance away so definitely write a grocery list and prepare for the days ahead. The drive down is a little nerve wracking. We are from the very flat state of Louisiana. Lol. So I was extremely nervous driving my Yukon down the gravel road with the mountain slopes and loose gravel. I wouldn’t suggest it in a car unless you are familiar with how to drive down that type of terrain. We would no doubt stay again and definitely recommend this place to anyone!!

Very nice house
Overall we had a very good experience and thought the house was very nice and well appointed. There are two things that I think could really be improved on. First is the mattress on the bed in the king bedroom. Honestly it is one of if the hardest mattress I have ever tried to sleep on and made sleeping very difficult and painful. I would suggest some type of topper or a new and softer mattress. Secondly is the grill needs to have the charcoal grate replaced or the entire grill should be replaced. Charcoal kept falling through the grate and caused issues. As nice as the house is it should have a nicer grill. Again overall we had a great stay and would rent this location again.

Beautiful slice of paradise
The home is absolutely Beautiful with gorgeous wood and stone throughout. Built and designed with class. The porch is fantastic overlooking perfect view of the lake with plenty of swings and chairs. We were lucky enough to get a thunderstorm and sit on the covered portion and watch the rain come in. I’m a fan of long, hot showers so was quite happy with the beautiful bathrooms and good water pressure. Kitchen was fully stocked with enough to make breakfast/dinner with everything you needed. The included kayak, paddle board, and canoe was a definite plus. Our favorite part was paddling/ swimming around the cove with our doggies. We love that the home is dog friendly and they were able to come and enjoy it with us. Game room was a plus- complete with board games, cards, pool, foosball and Jenga. Mr King was responsive to questions and clear with instructions. Only part I disliked was leaving. Tip to future vacationers : it’s a dry county so bring your wine or expect to drive a bit to find some. Horseflys are giant in this jungle paradise- don’t skip the bug spray. I’ve stayed at many rentals, Moonshadow is one of the best. Can’t beat the view and serenity. Thank you for having us and our dog children

Disappointing—could be 5 star...but
Commanding site over lake, remote location, functionally designed large cabin, summer time extras (kayaks, canoe, life jackets, etc), firewood. Access is steep as reported by others and we were glad to have 4WD, but probably only necessary if rainy. Clean, but disappointing furnishings...only plastic glasses (and not a single wine glass, one bar glass), chipped and incomplete pottery sets (not nearly enough for a full house), worn out and broken cooking pans and utensils (never did find dry measuring cups), threadbare and frayed towels, stained linens, messy and jumbled drawers and closets. Pet friendly, yes, but open box of rat poison on laundry room floor a hazard for both kids and pets. Multiple lights burned out, esp. outside; fan chain broken so no way to stop LR fan if the light is on. House book missing several pages and inaccurate—eg. AV equipment has changed...owner did respond to text query but told us to try Google for operating instructions. Too much use or too little attention to maintenance to command the premium fees.

Amazing, secluded lake getaway!
What an excellent property for a quick weekend getaway with friends and family! Moon Shadow Lodge did not disappoint. The location on Greers Ferry is a bit more remote and secluded, but that was totally what we were looking for. Property was very much as described- very well maintained, most everything you could need for cooking and other necessities. The home was very well built and has nice appointments. Game room downstairs with bunk rooms for kids was a hit. The views of the lake during our crisp, cold stay were incredible and were further enjoyed in conjunction with the warm fire inside that we were able to build with the ample firewood and log starters provided. While we could not get on the water during December, it was great to have the change of scenery and be out in the wilderness for a bit, especially when you have such a nice place to stay! Dugan the owner was extremely accommodating and very reachable by text and through the vrbo app. I'm sure he would have been available via phone, too, but we did not need to call. I was thankful for our SUV's all wheel drive (AWD) heading down to and up from the Lodge, as the Lodge sits at the bottom of a ridge right on the lake (breathtaking views of the lake on the way down). However, i know others have been ok without AWD and the heightened suspension of an SUV, but certainly in the rain and snow i would think it would be preferred considering the road to the cabin is not paved (approximately 1.5 miles). Either way, if there had been an issue, I'm sure Dugan would have been able to help. Super host! Thanks for the great weekend at Moon Shadow Lodge!

Great house with a lot of potential and a great view and cove
Overall, the property was pretty great and I think we'd visit it again. The waterfront view and quiet cove for swimming was perfect for our group of 9. The house itself was also beautiful and we liked the layout for our two families. We did have a little bit of an issue with bats though....we found two dead in the house upon our arrival and then a third was flying frantically around the den later that night that we had to kill to stop. The owner was apologetic and overall it was not a dealbreaker. A fuse blew almost as soon as we got there and it caused the fridge, TV, and front lights to go out. The owner called his caretaker, Gene, who came the next morning and replaced the fuse but thankfully we were able to use alternate plugs to get power back for the fridge in the meantime. Our kids absolutely loved the game room downstairs but we were all pretty disappointed that it didn't have a television. It would have been nice to have had one there so that grownups could watch football (or whatever) upstairs and kids could watch movies downstairs. That seems like an easy fix. The kayaks, paddleboards and lifejackets were helpful and well used. I would love to see a new dishwasher installed. The one there is practically falling out of the wall/cabinet, filled with mildew, smells horrible, and does not properly clean. We rented the pontoon boat owned by the property owner, which was convenient. If you are looking for a fast boat to pull a tube though, this would not be the right boat. It was still fun for cruising around the lake and we enjoyed that. While we had four wheel drive and did not encounter any issues coming or going, our friends who came with us in a van almost didn't make it out. That's not the fault of the owner obviously, but should be taken into consideration before booking. If you don't have 4 wheel drive, don't chance it! You may make it down, but you likely won't make it back up! Overall, again, we enjoyed our stay and thought it was great for our group. A few small fixes would make it even better ;)
