"We use this hotel en-route to Portugal from the UK. Very friendly reception staff, good breakfast and a decent burger bar and brewery beer place 30 secs walk away that is dog friendly plus a decent Italian restaurant next door (not sure about the dog friendly bit). We will stay again."

"What a delightful hotel. The rooms were modern, stylish, clean as a whistle and well equipped. The building is equally stylish and well maintained. We didn't eat in the dining room as it was very busy but crossed the road to a restaurant clearly popular with the locals where I enjoyed the best Cafe Gourmand of my life, for a very reasonable price. "When we booked this place we spent months excited about it and talking about how cool it would be. And then we got there and it lived up to all of our hopes and more! We stayed for a month and never got tired of the amazing view from the castle to the grounds and from the grounds to the castle. We spent hours hiking in the woods and playing kickball on the main lawn. The kitchen is huge and had everything we needed. "Better than we expected, just needed this hotel to sleep for a few hours while on the road. There was a fridge and microwave which was perfect for us as we had milk for our 1 year old. Bed was big and comfortable. Clean sheets, towels and soap in the bathroom. Self check-in was fine even at midnight. We had low expectations due to the price, but were pleasantly surprised in the end - this is just a roadside hotel, so it's not luxury but we had a good night's sleep! "

"Convenient location for the motorway when heading south. Easy parking and a couple of good restaurants within 5 minutes walk on the nearby campus. The public areas of the Novotel are nice but the bedrooms are showing their age a bit and the bathrooms need updating. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff were friendly."
