Private Mountain Cabin near hiking & skiing

This new mountain cabin is peaceful and secluded. Perfect location near hiking, golfing, and skiing. Walking distance to hiking trails, 3 miles to golf course, and 3.5 miles to Beech Mtn Ski Resort. The town of Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain are also close and offer great year-round activities for you and your family. The private home features an indoor fireplace, fully equipped kitchen, two large outdoor decks, and two family rooms with smart TV's.

This new home has everything you might need and more for a great getaway! On the main level you will find an open concept kitchen, spacious family room with a smart TV and fireplace, access to the outdoor deck as well as the master bedroom with a king size bed and full bathroom. Downstairs features a second family room with smart TV, full bathroom, access to the lower deck and two additional bedrooms. The second bedroom has a full size bed and the third bedroom has a full size bed with a trundle bed to pull out for extra sleeping space.

Entire 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home

Check-in instruction will be sent the morning of your stay. Access is by keyless door code so you will enter the code given and enter on your own.

The home is private and peaceful - approximately .2 miles away from any neighbors.

You must drive on a 1 mile gravel road which leads you straight to the home. 4-wheel drive is encouraged during winter months as the weather is ever changing and unpredictable. There is enough space in the driveway for 2 large or 3 small vehicles. The perimeter of the drive way is surrounded by big rocks which protects you from a drop off - please be cautious of your surroundings here especially in the dark.

Walk out of the back door to connect onto the local hiking trails. Also, a stream runs through the back and is extremely peaceful during the summer months but please be careful if you choose to explore there.
DOGS ONLY (2 dog max and no dog over 70lbs please).

Peaceful Hideaway
We had a trip planned to go to the Land of Oz and were looking for a place to stay and stumbled across this listing. The house is beautiful. Even when we had an issue getting the electronic lock to work the host got back to me with a solution in FOUR minutes. Communication was stellar. The house was immaculate. I’m extremely picky about cleanliness especially staying somewhere new and even after looking around very closely I have absolutely no complaints. The property is beyond peaceful. Sitting out on the back deck with my coffee listening to the sound of the creek and the birds was magical. The only possible complaint I could even have was that I was sad we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back!

Dirty and lacking some supplies
The house had not been cleaned when we arrived. There were hairs and dried toothpaste on the bathroom vanities and in the sinks, mold/mildew on the shower curtain, debris on the floors throughout the house, and crumbs on the kitchen island. The owners had the house cleaned the day after we arrived, and gave us a refund of our cleaning fee and part of our first two days rental charge. Still, it was pretty unpleasant showering our first night, and we had to repack most of our things and move them out for the cleaners the next day. The owners later told us that they have been unable to find reliable cleaners. The house itself is nice, but some of the items don't quite match expectation. There's a microwave, but no microwave-safe dishes. There's a dishwasher, but it leaks. There's a washing machine, but it's plumbed incorrectly, with hot water to the cold inlet, and vice versa. We discovered that when we pulled clothes out of it and found they were warm to the touch after a cold water wash cycle. We reported it to the owners, and they said they were aware of that, but they hadn't felt it necessary to tell us about it. The owners were very responsive, but their failure to tell us about known problems with their appliances and cleaning service resulted in a lower communication rating. They communicate through a rental-management platform called "hostaway", not through VRBO messaging. Wifi was good, and dedicated work space appreciated.

Beautiful, comfy house! Loved the fireplace and open floor plan. The house had everything we wanted and was stocked. Location was perfect. We enjoyed hearing the creek and exploring the trails.
