Sandend has a bit of a reputation locally as one of the best beaches around! A wide expanse of sand, backed by dunes and crossed by 2 burns (which provide great waterwork and dam opportunities!), home to Suds Surf School if you want to get active, and backed by Glenglassaugh Distillery - you can walk home along the beach after your tour and dram of the 'water of life'!
This part of the North East of Scotland lends itself to day trips, exploring the many beautiful fishing villages perched on hill tops or crouched precariously at the water's edge; following the Castle trail and discovering why this area has been so important across centuries of turbulent history; partaking in a dram along the Whisky Trail or perhaps getting close to the dolphins and other wildlife along the Moray Firth with a boat trip. Royal Deeside, the Cairngorm National Park and even Inverness and Loch Ness are all easily accessible. Discover the big skies and wide horizons, the fresh clear air and the quality of the light. In summer the days are near endless! In winter, nights are deep and long and starry, and on occasion spectacularly lit by the Northern Lights!
Sandend cottage has stunning views over the wide sandy beach from the kitchen, lounge and two front bedrooms - or over the water if the tide is in! The elevated garden terrace and summer house, again with stunning views, are ideal for outdoor entertaining and barbeques. The enclosed garden and back utility/’wet’ area, along with fantastic coastal walks, makes this an ideal cottage for families, dog owners, walkers and surfers.
The cottage has 3 bedrooms, with the king size double and twin bedroom at the front of the house, where you can be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves on the beach just beyond. The single bedroom at the back is incredibly quiet, and has access to the terraced garden.
What better way to start the day than taking your morning cuppa out to the bench on the rockery and watch the beach slowly come to life.
