"Chose this hotel for a one night stay on the way to Santander as it was dog friendly and previous good reviews. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite, which was much appreciated. We ate in the bar which had a good choice of food and was very reasonably priced. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others."

"What I liked the most is the relaxing environment that offers being on the Hotel and outside of it. Also the facilities and the organized things. I rate this hotel 9 out of 10 because the footsteps on the other rooms and the noise people make can be heard and scare you with the doors closing roughly. "Reception speaks English barely. Located in the outskirts of Penafiel. Restsurant was closed for dinner. Spa costs 25€ per person!!! No guest used it. Expensive, not VFM."

"Nos encontramos con una casa rural que no se parece en nada a las fotos del anuncio. La casa está sucia, descuidada y peligrosa, llena de insectos y con falta de mantenimiento. El baño huele excesivamente a tubería, lo que es imposible ignorar. Hay enchufes salidos de la pared, algunos no funcionan, y otros tienen partes arrancadas con cables al aire. Muchas ventanas no tienen persianas, lo cual es inusual en España. Hay humedades sin pintar ni arreglar, y la decoración está rota sin reparar....

"La casa está muy bien, muy cómoda y con dos jardines fenomenales. Pista de padel en buenas condiciones, barbacoa y sala de estar geniales."

"A sweet and quirky little hotel in a quiet, off the beaten path town. The rooms are unexpectedly nice - newly remodeled, comfortable linens and bedding, nice towels, very clean bathrooms. Parking is on the street, free and safe. Easy places to walk the dog nearby. "

Good hotel for an overnight stop

"We booked as an overnight stop on a long drive so we were grateful for a good room and an easy location not far from the main route we were travelling. We were grateful to find a good hotel that was dog friendly as we were travelling with our Cocker Spaniel. The room was a little worn in places but otherwise a very good stay. Good value for an overnight stop. "

Fantastic hotel

"The hotel is an old castle high up above the valley - how fantastic is that? Wonderful character with plenty to wander around and explore. We would have enjoyed the views from the rooftop terrace had the weather been a bit warmer but we enjoyed looking around the hotel and relaxing with a drink in the main central room. There was no bar as such but drinks were available from reception and we had a great meal in the restaurant. Good service throughout our stay."
