Dingle Peninsula: Beautiful house 'An Máimín' Ballyferriter, Dingle

Nestled in the picturesque village of Baile an Fheirtearaigh / Ballyferriter in the Dingle Peninsula, this beautiful house boasts three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a tv room and a large kitchen / dining area. With spectacular views of the three sisters to the front, and the Croaghmarhin mountain at the back, it is only a minutes' stroll to the village.

Lonnaithe i sráidbhaile Baile an Fheirtéaraigh i leithinis Chorca Dhuibhne, teach álainn le 3 seomraí leapa, trí seomraí folctha, seomra teilifíse agus a cistine/seomra bidh. Radharc álainn amach ar na trí deirfiúracha chun tosaigh, agus ar chúl Cruach Marthain.

This is How You Want To Experience Ireland
Staying in this small village and having access to Dingle, the drives, the cruises, and the hikes are great ways to get a feel for this most beautiful part of Ireland. (Be sure to get tickets for a concert at St. James’s Church in Dingle.) Sharon lived up to the other reviews. She made us feel at home and we knew we could contact her if we needed to. Stock up on groceries before you get there, but don’t overbuy because the pubs and hotel have great choices. We could have taken the bartender at Murphy’s home with us, but alas, he wouldn’t want to leave Ballyferriter. We didn’t want to either.

We truly appreciated our stay in Ballyferriter. The house is spacious and very conveniently located (restaurants and grocery shop within walking distance), closest beach reachable by foot. All major tourist attractions on the Dingle peninsula can be reached easily by car.

Great base to explore the Dingle peninsula
Very comfortable and cosy cottage - ideal if you are looking to relax. The position in Ballyferriter offers all you need: lovely views and walks, a shop and a few pubs within walking distance and Dingle not too far away. We had a great time and Micheal's family contributed by going out of their way to help.

Great house
We spent a really lovely week at Micheal’s house in this beautiful part of the world. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. The downstairs bedroom is ideal for anyone with mobility difficulties. There’s a lovely private little garden with great views. The Slea Head drive was breathtaking in the fine weather. Sharon is a wonderfully warm and kind host. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful place for a quiet stay
This is a beautiful property on the quiet and relaxing Dingle Peninsula. Large bedrooms and ample bathrooms are greatly appreciated especially when coupled with a very functional kitchen with full sizes appliances. Amazing views from the living room and both upstairs bedrooms add to the enjoyment of this house. It is in a very quiet neighborhood; a perfect base for exploring the peninsula and surrounding County Kerry. Michael was very easy to make arrangements with when planning our trip. He responded quickly and made the process effortless. You cannot hope to find a host better than Sharon. She was attentive without being obtrusive, gave wonderful recommendations, and treated us like family. We will definitely plan on staying here on our next trip to Kerry.

Perfect location and excellent lodging
We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. Sharon, the property manager, was always available to answer questions and/or offer advice. Quite the lady.. were I 30 years younger and single ... uh, where was I. Right, good floor plan and a fully equipped kitchen. Fireplace for those cool night. If you want to experience the Dingle Peninsula, this would be the prefect location. Not to mention that there are very decent Pubs within easy walking distance.

Love Balleyferriter - Baile an Fheirtearaigh
We loved "our" house in Balleyferriter. It was clean, cozy and near everything we wanted in a vacation destination. There were a few glitches but our new friend Sharon helped us each time. She was kind, attentive and helpful, all that you would want or need to assist with questions or concerns. We would love to go back. We love Dingle and know friends there and in Abbeydorney. Would definitely recommend this lovely home. The view from the bedrooms was exquisite!

Perfect home in beautiful Ireland
The house and location were just perfect for our first trip to Ireland. Perfect for those who want to get away from it all in a gorgeous country setting. The house is modern, clean, spacious and very nicely decorated. Although we didn't meet Michael during our visit, his sister Sharon was just fabulous and so helpful in our checking in and out--so friendly and kind. We stayed over Thanksgiving and used the fully stocked kitchen to cook our Thanksgiving Day feast. Michael was so thoughtful in sending over a bottle of champagne for our Thanksgiving celebration! We've rented homes and condos many times, and this one is at the top of our list!

Another perfect week
After our wonderful first stay at An Maimin last year, we knew we would return as soon as we could. We had another lovely week of seaside cliff walks, hill hikes and strolls to and along the local beach. This area is so beautiful and the home is the perfect location from which to explore and enjoy all of the natural wonders surrounding it. There are also three pubs and a hotel a 5 minute walk (or less) away, all of which serve up good pints and food and Dingle is a quick drive for even more options. The home is impeccably kept and has everything you need to make meals or enjoy evenings at home, reading in front of a peat fire or enjoying a drink on the patio. The beds are comfortable and it is quiet and peaceful. The hosts are fantastic. Micheal is a prompt communicator and his sister Sharon is also quick to respond and a blast to chat with. On the one chilly, windy, rainy day we had during the week, she showed up with more peat and wood to make sure we cold enjoy a cozy fire---lovely! She is kind, down-to-earth and fun and we were delighted to see her again and catch up. We look forward to our next trip to An Maimin soon.

The perfect property in the perfect location
The moment we stepped foot into this lovely home in Ballyferriter, we were smiling ear to ear. Pictures don't even do it justice. Spacious, clean, well appointed, comfortable and in a great little village on the Slea Head Drive - couldn't ask for better. We were traveling with two children (ages 5 and 9) and appreciated the space to spread out - the kids even had their own sitting room to play in and made good use of the back garden to run around during dry/ sunny spells. The local park in Ballyferriter and Beal Ban beach were also a hit. Check in/ check out and communication with hosts was good. Sharon checked in on us during our stay and was a kind a gracious host, supplying us with lots of extra wood and peat for the fireplace which we enjoyed in the evenings. I would highly recommend An Máimín to any family wanting to explore the beauty of the Dingle peninsula in a genuine Irish village away from the crowds. The kids (and hubby and I) were reluctant to come home. Thanks Michael, Sharon and family for the lovely stay. Jennifer O'Brien-Tomka

Incredible!!
This place was absolute perfection! We had NO clue where we were going, and didn't know much about the best places to stay in Ireland but we found this place online only a few weeks before we went, and it turned out to be the most amazing thing we did! First of all, the place was darling! And Sharon, who manages it, was absolutely adorable! We had so much fun getting to know her and she was so helpful immediately if we ever needed anything. She gave us information of places to go and we found that to be so helpful to us! The Slea Head drive is so amazing and Sharon was a wealth of information of where to go. We'd go again in a heartbeat! As far as the house goes, it was so comfortable and enjoyable. The beds are incredible, and that was a huge thing. The kitchen is well stocked. They have a fireplace, which was very helpful as a few days were a bit chilly. There isn't much in the way of TV channels but that was ok. They do have a cute little "reading" room that does have a TV that can play DVD's only but there weren't many videos available. But that was no biggie because there's so much more to do that you hardly have time to sit and watch a movie anyway! The place is a bit out there on the tip of the Dingle Peninsula but the longer we were there, the more we loved being off the beaten path. I would recommend this place over and over again! You won't go wrong staying there.

Perfection!
We spent just over 2 weeks travelling around Ireland, and without a doubt our favorite place to stay--by far--was this little gem tucked on a hillside in the little village of Ballyferriter. We were travelling with our 5-yr old son and "Grandma." The home was spacious, very clean, comfortable, and easily the most well-equipped VRBO we have every stayed in. I was a little worried about the remoteness of the property, but it's location was awesome. Just 15 minutes from the town of Dingle, and just one block off of the Slea Head Drive, it was the best of both worlds. We were met by the owner's mother (could not have been sweeter) who showed us around the home. 3 HUGE bedrooms -- 2 upstairs and 1 on the main floor (King Bed / Queen Bed / 2 Twins), each with its own full bath. There was a lovely kitchen with what seemed like newer appliances and a full size washer and separate dryer (rare in our experience in Europe). It had every kitchen gadget you could want, and high-quality, matching dinnerware, flatware, and glasses. It also had a nice, large table, and two areas for TV watching (in the living room and a separate "den-type" room). The showers were hot and powerful. The owner's sister came by a few times to see if we needed anything and to offer advice. She was so kind and helpful! We had lovely views of the mountain we were situated on and ocean/landscape views from the two upper bedrooms. We were also a short walk (3 minutes) to Murphy's -- a little pub/restaurant where we had one of the best meals of our trip. A 2-minute walk will get you to a little convenience store where you can get produce, deli, cereal, bread, and any other staples you forgot to get at the Super Valu in Dingle (don't get the pizza, though -- it was terrible!). We spent 3 nights and if we could do it again, we'd stay longer. The beaches are incredible and the Slea Head Drive is stunning. It would also be possible to do the Ring of Kerry from here, but it'd be a long day. Can't say enough positive things about this place! Seriously...stay here!!!

Lovely home; attentive owner; friendly village. Thank you, Micheal!!! We look forward to returning.
We stayed from December 26 through January 1. I'm embarrassed that it has taken ten months to write a review (my outdated technology wouldn't work on this site . We travelled from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Owner's representative was quick to respond to our arrival even though we arrived on an Irish holiday. The representative showed us how to operate everything in the home. She also explained which pubs offered food, location of grocery store, etc. During our visit we did meet the homeowner. We enjoyed his company very much and could have visited with him for hours. He refunded our deposit immediately after our trip. The house was very clean, comfortable and modern. We were just two travelers, but the house would have comfortably slept many more without feeling cramped. Television channels were sparse due to surrounding mountains blocking signal, but we didn't want to sit and watch TV much anyway. There was ample room to park our car. The house has a lovely patio. Had our trip been in a warmer season, we would have spent time enjoying outdoor meals. Storm Frank hit during our visit and the house stood up to it without a problem. There is a small grocery store at the end of the block. We ended up there almost every day for miscellaneous goods. There is a larger grocery store in Dingle - Garvey's SuperValu. Dingle, the biggest town on the peninsula, is a short drive away. Dingle is large enough to meet any need a visitor might have. We spent every evening at Murphy's Pub, which is a short walk from the house. The local people were all very friendly toward us and the food was good.We traveled the Dingle Pensinula, the Ring of Kerry, and the Cliffs of Moher, but our favorite afternoon was the one we spent walking the Sli an Mhaiman walk. It is a walk recommended by the local tourist bureau. The walk starts a block from the rental home and took us to a monastic ruin site, a dilapidated castle, and ruins of a parish church with its cemetery (which is still used). There was no sound from airplanes, cars, or anything else except random sheep and cows. I traveled to Ireland in March, 2015. During my stay, I spent St. Patrick's Day in Dingle and the Dingle Peninsula. Of anywhere in the world, this is where I wanted to visit again. I recall driving through Ballyferriter and noting what a cute village it was. It was very worthwhile to return and investigate the area closer, which was the purpose of our visit in December. LOVED IT!

Tolle Erlebnisse

Very good and comfortable House.
We were very satisfied with the house. There was enough space for us and our four children, and the rooms were comfortably furnished. The contact person on site was very friendly and helpful and quick to respond when we had questions. The house is wonderful as a starting point for hikes and excursions in the area. We would holiday in the house again at any time.
