Villa Chill ::: 260-Acre Private Jungle ::: Escaleras

Located on ::: Escaleras Road ::: the most scenic and pristine road in the area, this unique property offers plenty of privacy, wildlife, fruit orchards, waterfalls and streams set on 260 acres. Villa Chill's main house includes a swimming pool, open kitchen, 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The 2 adjacent guest houses each have 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Located 900 ft. (275 meters) in elevation & a mile from the ocean, Villa Chill has a regular breeze and inspiring ocean views all year around, all day long.

The environment feels less like a salty beach & more like a refreshing rain forest. Yet there are excellent beaches for family walks, horseback riding and others for surfing - all within 10-20 minutes from our doorstep.

Toucans live in the trees around Villa Chill. It is not uncommon to see toucans and parrots daily. A wide array of wildlife lives in the property including howler monkeys, parrots, 3-toe sloth and many other species. During the rainy season eagles perch nearby.

This property has many types of fruit trees including an orchard located in the valley below the villa and depending on when you're visiting, various fruits from the property are provided for your sampling.

If you're ready for serious hiking and bring the appropriate gear, we can arrange a guide to take you through our pristine jungle to see what few people have the opportunity to see.

Ideal for FAMILY GATHERING or YOGA RETREAT!!!

Wow!! What an amazing property… When you enter through the gates you find yourself winding through the lush jungle until you arrive at the villa. Once you arrive you start to understand what a special property this really is. The views are magnificent, there are trails all around the property that allow you to see all types of different vegetation and wildlife. Not far off there is an amazing outdoor yoga studio that has a beautiful stream of water that runs through it. Annick and her team were amazing to deal with and we are so grateful for the time we got to spend here. Don’t hesitate on booking this one!!

Villa Chill with the view
We were a party of 8 who had different agendas for our stay. Our days were spend on and off the property, with most meals eaten on the patio overlooking the pool and the view. We began our visit with a boat tour of the Sierra River, a must for those of us who were returning to Uvita for the third or fourth time. Many changes in the area since 2020, our last visit. A lot more development, and the weather was different in that we experienced rain several times, and clouds, not the case on past holidays in the same time period. The master bedroom is wonderful .. our guests used the two cottages as well, so everyone had lots of privacy. We saw some lovely birds from the terrace, also heard howlers, saw several agoutis and coatis, as well as a small herd of peccaries (wood pigs, on the road). We did hire Beto for a couple of walks of the property and a night walk. We saw few animals this way - the trails are really roads, through the property and the hike to the view, only a few of us did it, was quite difficult and strenuous. Not recommended for over 70s or if you are not fit. For negatives, only a few .. the road coming up is really quite challenging (we live on a dirt road in Canada with hills and ice/snow) .. this is dust and twists and grinding hills, coupled with a lot of ATV and truck traffic. A GOOD SUV is needed. There were some issues with the entrance (gate not functioning)at the end of our stay but any issue was always dealt with quickly by Annick.

Absolutely PERFECT for our retreat!
The view and property are absolutely stunning! We loved the privacy, peace and quiet. Having so many pristine acres helped us all feel cocooned in beauty and calm for our retreat. Annick was so wonderful and helpful in all of her communications. The kitchen is super well-stocked for a private chef to come in and make meals. Beto, the property manager, was so helpful and guided our group on a lovely hike. We were so happy here and wish we had stayed longer. I would definitely love to host more retreats here! Thank you!

Fantastic Vacation in Beautiful Place
We spent 3 nights in Villa Chill and had a fantastic time. We had a group of 8 and everyone had their own bedroom. There is room for many more. The place was very clean and accomodating. Great kitchen and open spaces with a fantasic deck and pool. Basically you are staying in a nature reserve. In the time we were there we saw tons of animals including: Coatis, Tapirs, Monkeys, Bats, Tucans as well as many other birds. There are beautiful hikes on the grouds that include over 250 acres. The views are magnificant and you are close to wonderful beaches and the towns of Uvita and Dominical. It could not have been better for us. We loved it!

This is the place you're looking for!!!!!
Our stay here was amazing! Been coming to this area with my family of 5 for many years and have stayed in 5 different houses right on this mountain. This is by far the best yet! Thanks for everything Annick, you are a gracious host. And to Beto, you are a kind, helpful and very available property manager. Stayed with 2 families, 11 people in total and there was plenty of room and places to convene or escape. Property is expansive and full of mature flora and fauna with never a dull moment. Sunrise and sunset to be enjoyed every day with amazing ocean and jungle views a constant :) Thank you for making this beautiful place available, we hope to come enjoy it again in the near future!!

Amazing ocean view, sunrises, and sunsets!
Staying at this property was even more special and beautiful than we expected. It sits in a quiet mountain location that overlooks the ocean and the Whales Tail of Uvita Beach can be seen in the distance from the glorious views from the deck and the HUGE windows of the houses. Our group of 11 was two families with children ages 8-17. They all LOVED staying here! Our oldest daughter (17) who has traveled a lot said, "I think this is the best place I have ever stayed at on vacation!" We loved having access to the 3 houses (one main house and two cottages) They are all very close to each other, a few steps a part. So it feels like we all stayed together, yet had some added privacy. It was perfect! The huge kitchen and large outside shaded deck, and the pool were our favorite gathering places. It was amazing to hear the howler monkeys at night. The beautiful birds, trees, flowers, and outstanding mountain and ocean views that surround the house make this a slice of heaven on earth. And the owner and grounds keepers were so hopeful and accessible for any questions and help. They give us A+ customer service. We are active travelers so during the days we traveled 20 minutes south to Uvita (for surf lessons and the snorkeling boat tour to Cano Island) and we traveled north an hour to Quepos (for deep sea fishing) and Manuel Antonio National Park (for hiking, beach, and zip line tour at Canopy Safari - my favorite!!). The location of this property was awesome for these once in a lifetime adventures. When we returned from deep sea fishing, we were able to grill our fresh catch of Mahi Mahi on the outside grill on the deck. If you wants some great help reserving these special activities, I suggest checking out "Two weeks in Costa Rica" blog on line. Jennifer is very familiar with the Dominical / Uvita area and she scheduled the reservations for us. She saved me a lot of planning time and having her services in combination with us finding this property on VRBO made this a dreamy once in a life time trip for our family! Rachelle

We had an amazing 10 day stay with 2 families. Exceeded expectations. Great location. 2 mins drive to Jolly Roger for beer and wings and 5 minutes to Scala restaurant for some Haut Cuisine. The property is gorgeous and we really enjoyed the hike with Beto. No need for AC has high altitude and gentle breeze makes for super comfortable sleep. This is our 5th visit to Dominical. It’s still our favourite place in Costa Rica. Check out Dominical Adventures for river rafting and surfs lessons. New Fiego restaurant is a must for its super cool setting and craft beer. Annick, our host was most helpful for check in and any questions. Everyone is using WhatsApp so easy to reach. Definitely would stay here again. Thanks again Annick.

Paradise Found
Perfection. I am a photographer who specialises in taking clients to some of the most beautiful places in the world, and this villa was one of the most spectacular places I've stayed. My clients were so awestruck by the view that a couple of them were moved to tears. The photos, while accurate, just can't do justice to the magnificence! Check in was easy and simple - Beto, who speaks only Spanish, showed me the house and guest houses and Annick, the owner, communicated via Whatsapp and was always available to answer questions. The houses were clean and beautiful, and the kitchen in the main house was one of the most well outfitted I've had the pleasure of using while travelling. The pool has an incredible view of the jungle and ocean, and is perfectly suited to cooling off after a kot day. It has a shallow side and a shallower side, with the deepest part being just right to swim but shallow enough that most kids could safely stand. It made me wish I'd brought my kids! All the bedrooms in the main villa have an ocean view, and the guest houses have jungle views in the bedrooms and ocean views in the livingrooms. The main villa has only one small stair leading to it, so could be considered fairly accessible (unlike most of Costa Rica) for people with mobility needs. While we were there we saw toucans, coatis, a sloth, howler monkeys (get ready for some very cool, kind of eerie sounds, particularly at evening and dawn), an agouti, and many giant, Jurassic-Park-like grasshoppers. ;) There were occasionally interesting bugs that found their way inside - to be expected when you're staying in the jungle - but they were easy to evict. One of the highlights of our trip was hiking with Beto - the trails seemed endless! There were paved roads that were great for morning runs or easy strolls, and trails that varied in intensity - our favourites were almost like bouldering, really fun and somewhat tricky climbs up a small waterfall. Just be prepared to leave your pride behind and ask Beto to slow down, he maintains these trails and his fitness level is unreal! He showed me many beautiful spots for photoshoots with my models. The property is so huge that you have real privacy, which is hard to come by. The road up to the villa was a bit hair-raising the first couple of times, but even though the car rental company gave us a Nissan Kicks rather than a true 4x4 it handled the roads fine and we were soon driving it comfortably. 100% recommend!

Villa Chill- a slice of paradise.
We have travelled extensively and stayed in various types of properties, from 5 star resorts to $1 shacks on the beach. Villa Chill and her surroundings have soared to our #1 spot. The moment we stepped out of the car to the moment we left we were in awe. We were 3 families staying at the villa- a total of 14 people from 17-60 years young. There was so much room and the 2 guest houses meant privacy for all. Annick is a fantastic host. She helped me navigate everything from sleeping arrangements to activity recommendations. Nothing was too much trouble. On the property, Beto helps with everything. One of our party walked through a screen door, and before we could blink- it was fixed. Adriana cleans the house 3 times weekly- which is a God send when you are so many! Must dos: Rent a 4WD Hike the property with Beto Drink fresh coconuts from the property Take binoculars! We saw toucans, macaws, parakeets, birds of every color, howler monkeys (and their babies), Capuchin monkeys, sloths (plus newborn), wild pigs- the list is endless! Watch sunsets from the pool as well as the beaches Arrange for Beto’s wife (Jocelyn) to cook a meal (wish we had arranged more) Surf amongst the manta rays on Dominical Go to the whales tail- take a photo of the coastline Have avocado toast at Mono Congo Slide down the Catarata waterfall in Uvita (have a cappuccino at the cafe) Buy fruit from the street vendors Buy fresh bread, croissants from Sibu Have an empanada at El Hornito Eat ceviche from the street stand just as you turn into Quepos Use Dominical Adventures for water activities Book a hike with Pacific Journeys to Diamante Falls- unbelievable! Take the time to walk, breathe and absorb this slice of paradise.

Fantastic location!
First: The place was super clean. We had big comfy beds, fresh sheets, clean towels, plenty of cookware, a coffee maker, and a washing machine. Our hosts were very communicative and quick to answer questions. Checking in and accessing the home was very easy to do. Beto, who lives (or stays part-time? I guess I'm not sure) elsewhere on the property was AMAZING. He took us on a hike and helped us spot a sloth one morning! Great hikes on the property and in the area generally. This is a really good spot for a group of friends because there's a lot of space and privacy. Every single bedroom has its own bathroom!! We loved that. There's a restaurant called Scala just down the street, which ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It also has a cute little cafe and shop, and we made a few different stops there. The beach and Dominical are both just a short drive (neither are easily walkable). It's exactly what was promised in the listing: a beautiful, comfortable home with incredible views and a perfect location.

Beautiful Secluded Property
All 13 of us, with ages ranging from 8-73, had a fabulous time staying at Villa Chill. The view and property were spectacular, simply breathtaking. From just our balcony, we were able to see so many types of wild life, from birds to capybaras to even a large group of howler monkeys playing in the trees just off the deck. Vin, the on-site property manager, took our group on a hike of the vast property, where we saw even more wildlife, including a sloth! Additionally, we enjoyed fresh mangos and star fruit from the trees just outside the front door. At the owners’ suggestion, we hired Daisy to cook for us 2 of the nights during our stay, and it did not disappoint. Her meals were delicious and liked by all! The house was extremely well maintained and well appointed. The pool was beautiful and a huge hit with the kids. Overall, a wonderful stay at Villa Chill. We were sorry to leave!

Exceeded our expectations
We had a wonderful time at Selva Escondida. The house is just right for the location...airy and clean, with terrific views from every side. We saw two kinds of monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds all over, oropendulas, and lots of other birds. The pool is a perfect place to relax in the afternoons and the kitchen made cooking easy. Be prepared with a 4x4 for a bumpy ride up the mountain. Vin is quick to address and problems that come up (my husband broke a water pipe while playing catch with my child), and led us on an exciting hike up to the Mirador. My kids ended up calling him Tio Vin because he was so kind to them. Jeannette keeps the house immaculate, and Daisy fed us very well. My son says that Daisy’s cooking is better than mine. We would recommend this place 100%.

Beautiful property with outstanding views
We just returned from 8 days at Villa Chill with our family of 12. It fit our needs perfectly and the entire group had plenty of room to spread out. The property is fantastic for hiking and wildlife viewing. We were fortunate enough to spot a large 3 toed sloth in a tree directly over the pool.! The care taker checked on us frequently but was never intrusive. We enjoyed the pool daily and had a great time reconnecting as a family. The property is somewhat dated but everyone enjoyed its charm.

Incredible private estate in the jungle above Dominical and Uvita
We had a wonderful time at Annick and Jason's property in Costa Rica. There are three well-equipped, separate buildings, with plenty of room for our three families who traveled together. The hiking trails on the property were fun to explore. The birds, monkeys, and other wildlife on the property were amazing to see. The location is excellent--about halfway between Dominical and Uvita, and far enough from the main highway that you feel secluded without feeling totally isolated. We had a great experience here and would come back again if the opportunity presents itself. Thanks for having us! Erik

Amazing Family Vacation Home
We spent 10 days at Villa Chill, and everything about it was outstanding. The owners were fast and thorough in responses to my questions. The rave reviews about the house proved true, and I think it's impossible to state how beautiful the home, views, and property truly are. The main house has a panoramic view to the west and south, with the whale's tail being the main feature. This is our third trip to the area, and this house definitely had the best views. Huge flocks of parrots live in the palm trees nearby, and oropendolas nest there too. Toucans were common visitors, and we also saw an aracari, and many other small birds. We heard monkeys every morning, rarely saw them. We saw a large troop of coatis a few times on the trail up to the mirador, and bats put on a nightly show. The property could easily occupy you for a week or more, and we enjoyed daily hikes on the trails that only scratched the surface of what we could have explored. There are fruit trees, a teak forest, and streams running along the property and below the yoga platform (which was a great place to go and get some solitude). The elevation made nights cool, and seems to keep mosquitos away. The caretaker, Vin, is friendly and helpful, always be around but never intrusive and I enjoyed practicing my awful spanish with him. Daisy cooked dinner for us three nights, she is fantastic and cooked immense quantities of authentic Tico fare. The home is in a great location between Dominical and Uvita, each about 15 minutes away by car. We visited most of the beaches between Dominical and Ventanas, and I think Playa Hermosa was the best overall, and is the closest. We enjoyed Costa Canyoning, Jungle ATV, and a boat tour with Bahia Aventuras (all in Uvita), and surf lessons with Dominical Waverider. And the Jolly Roger Bar so close made dinners easy when evening rainstorms made travel difficult. There is not much I can add to the many great reviews about the house itself, but it does have all modern amenities, kitchen is well-equipped, beds are comfortable, and the guest houses themselves would make excellent main homes on their own. The road to the house is going to be an adventure for first-timers, but you will get used to it. If you are looking for an adventure without sacrificing comfort or safety, this is the place!

Great stay for the family
We just got back from a great visit to Costa Rica. There were 15 of us in the house which still had plenty more room. The main house is a great open space for everyone to interact. The two side houses are great for spreading out for sleep or just to get space. The water pressure was awesome. There is a comfortable couch and wonderful views of the ocean. The pool is great for families with young children. The grounds are beautiful and provide hikes ranging from moderate to extreme difficulty. The caretaker (Vin) was very kind and responsive as was the owner (Annick) to any questions or issues we had. The location of the house is both incredible and limiting depending on your mindset. It's relatively near a lot of things (parks, waterfalls, good restaurants), but it'll take at least 10-15 minutes to go anywhere. The house is not baby proofed. We had to keep our eyes on our 1 year old pretty much the whole trip. The fence around the balcony was just large enough for him to climb through if he wanted to fall 20 ft. :) Fortunately, that never happened.

We got married in this little piece of paradise!
As the title suggests we recently got married at the beautiful property. It really is a special place. Annick and Jason were so helpful and full of advise while we were at home planning our wedding. When we arrived Vin and his wife Jeanneth went above and beyond to help us in every way that they could. Jeanneth and her sister Daisy even cooked for us on our wedding day and the food was just delicious. We could not have asked for a more helpful and friendly group of people, who really made our day special and stress free. As for the property...it is beautiful and private. The view is absolute breath taking, and we never got tired of staring out over the rainforest to the ocean. I don't think we have ever stayed anywhere with a more spectacular view. There is also a wealth of wildlife on the property, we were lucky enough to see a sloth, monkeys, agoutis, coatis, toucans, frogs and many other weird and wonderful creatures all literally on our doorstep! The main house and two smaller houses were perfect for our group of 18 people, including two kids under the age of five. The swimming pool has a great shallow section for the kids to play in and a deep part for adults. The kitchen was very well stocked and we were able to cook for our party without an issue. The BBQ also worked well. All in all we could not have asked for more and we are so happy that we chose this property as our wedding venue. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone...it really is special and we will never forget it. Thank you so much, Annick, Jason, Vin, Jeanneth and Daisy x
