Cummal Beg is situated in a quiet area of the island between Douglas and Laxey, surrounded by farmla

Cummal Beg is a self-catering holiday apartment located in Baldrine, halfway between Douglas, the capital of the Isle of Man and Laxey. Surrounding the apartment is an open expanse of farmland, perfect to escape the hustle and bustle!

Sleeping 4 in 2 bedrooms, Cummal Beg is perfect for a small family visit to the island.

Groudle Glen is just a few minutes drive down the road, This lovely glen could well make as strong a case for the Island’s most beautiful glen, the playful mix of bountiful greenery, the olde-time Railway station allied to hidden gems such as its water wheel’ give it a bustling mix of beauty, intrigue and history. Take a walk through a mini-nature trail through tree-lined pathways, a spectacular wheel-headed cross and finishing up through the farmlands of Baldrine.

A few minutes further north is the old mining village of Laxey, steeped in history. Visit The Laxey Wheel or 'Lady Isabella' as she is affectionately known, the largest working waterwheel in the world. Climb atop of the wheel to experience panoramic views across Glen Mooar Valley, not for those who are afraid of heights! On the same site is the mine where you can learn more about the village's history. Laxey beach is a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike, watch the kayakers, paddleboarders and sea swimmers take to the water in the summer months, and in the winter simply enjoy watching the waves roll in!

South of Cummal Beg is the island's capital, Douglas, with a range of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Public transport won't be an issue if staying at Cummal Beg either! At the end of the lane is the Manx Electric Railway stop, hop on either back into Douglas or onto Laxey or Ramsey! A bus stop is nearby too.

Fantastic accommodation
The accommodation was fantastic, perfect location for visiting the Island. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean set in a beautiful garden. Would highly recommended to all looking for a place to stay!

Comfortable home for our week
Our family with 2 young children had a great week in the Isle of Man, exploring the whole island from our accommodation. The living area and kitchen combined meant we were all together, with nice window seats looking out. There is separate space to spread out and the balcony allowed us to eat outside a few times. It was nice to explore the fruit and pond in the garden and fields and see the hens and ducks. Would be happy to return here, because we definitely want to visit the Island again.

A week on the Isle of Man
My friend and I booked the apartment for the crown green bowling festival week. There is plenty of safe private parking and a quiet rural location. Everything we needed provided and a warm welcome from the owner. Just one small thing was that the bed duvets were probably winter tog. As we stayed in mid summer they were too warm and summer ones would be an improvement. Wold definitely book again.

Very peaceful location in comfortable accommodation. Ideal for bus and electric railway.
Well equipped comfortable accommodation. Welcome pack of bread, milk etc was appreciated. Had a power cut and the out of hours contact and owners were excellent in keeping us informed and resolving the issue. Could do with a teapot!! Public transport easily accessible and frequent giving good access links to explore the island. A very relaxed enjoyable week

A very nice property set in a lovley quiet location.Everything was clean and tidy with a well equiped kitchen area. All was very acceptable except for the ridiculous green light in the main bedroom and hallway. Surely they don't have to be as bright as that.

Disliked: Communication
We left the accommodation after only one night. To be honest the accommodation itself was fine, but we were not aware that it was an attic apartment accessed by a steep, full-length open plan wooden staircase on the outside of the building - NOT SHOWN IN THE PHOTO. Unfortunately my wife has mobility issues and the staircase petrified her. I feel they should warn people who have similar problems that they might have a problem accessing the property. Also, I think they should make it clear the accommodation is in the roof and is not the whole building, which the main photo implies.

Accommodation review
Apartment was clean with all the necessary equipment required for our stay, beautifully presented with a lovely view from the balcony. Only downside was the green luminous light from the smoke detector in the main bedroom. Smoke detector in the corridor outside the room and also in the kitchen diner so don’t know why it was necessary to have one in the bedroom. Wore an eye mask for the entire stay and slept well.

Never again!
The stairs to the accomodation are very steep and not ideal for anyone over the age 60.Flies were a problem, there were everywhere, the proprieter was a bit loathe about using flyspray too? Very mismatched furnishings, and it was noisy, people having very little regards to paying guests as if your in their way Not Recommended.
