BEAUTIFUL VILLA, GREAT SPOT in BAGNI DI LUCCA
The area is lovely, the villa is very close to the charming town centre and beautiful river so it was very relaxing and easy to get around. Antonio and Joanna were extremely helpful, the villa spotless and comfortable. Outdoor BBQ was a big plus. Would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anybody!

A Tuscan Holiday
A great holiday had by all, the villa set in a lovely village we enjoyed walking down for an ice cream or glass of wine. We visited the pools a few times just a short walk from the villa which were great, clean and well maintained with great views. The villa itself exceeded expectations with fantastic views from the balconies and garden. It was spacious, comfortable, clean and finished to high standards, everything we needed was there. We also enjoyed sitting and sunbathing in the lovely garden and cooling down in the pool, and to top off the holiday glorious sunshine everyday! We would definately recommend it!

A special part of Tuscany
We had a wonderful 3 week stay with 8 adults and later 8 adults and 2 children. The property was as depicted with well maintained pool and yard, outdoor dining area, well equipped kitchen. It is on 3 levels with connecting spiral staircase plus a loft. Sarah was a wonderful host, very helpful and responsive. Bagni di Lucca is well past its glory days, but still charming and a short rather steep walk from the house. This is not the Tuscany we imaged with vistas of rolling hills and hilltop towns: it is in the mountains, surrounded by forested mountains and with rushing Lima River close by. A small to medium sized car is recommended, as the parking for 2 is tight and the drive up is quite narrow in places.

Autumn Walking Break in Tuscany
We have just spent a delightful week in Bagni di Lucca at Villa Rossa. The Villa was stunning furnished to a high standard, clean & tidy and in a wonderful location having both peace & quiet yet literaly a couple of minutes walk to the centre. We planned to do the typical tourist attractions but loved Bagni so much that we ended up staying in the local area walking & relaxing and only managed to do 1 day trip to Florence. There are enough marked trails from the Villa to walk a different route everyday. The property is lovely & the owners were a great source of knowledge on the surrounding area and only live a few minutes away if you need them. We would be happy to come back here again as it is a great spot for walkers of all levels. Many thanks Jo & Antonio for all you kindness. Pat & the group

Wonderful vacation
Joanna & Antonio-sorry for the delay in writing this. The villa was a perfect place for our family trip to Italy. With our three grown children and mother-in-law, the villa was an ideal layout. The facilities were just as described-kitchen had everything we needed-the property was very clean and well maintained. The weather was beautiful so we made good use of the balcony, sipping our wine, while watching the men try their hand at the outdoor pizza oven! Joanna & Antonio were ideal hosts. We had lots of questions and they had lots of answers! They provided us with excellent referrals. The family's (yes, all of them were in agreement for once) favorite was Del Sonno Restaurant where we dined several times. Ilario was fantastic and treated us like family, and the food...mmmmm GREAT! The villa was ideally located for our day trips around the country. We visited Pisa, the beach, Lucca, and Florence. We rode the train into Lucca and Florence-mostly so we didn't have to drive. Driving in Italy is a little different than in the states-and there are lots of narrow roads, including the one to the villa-it's just an adventure! We have rented many places for our vacations over the years, and appreciate when descriptions are accurate, such as with this villa, and also appreciate excellent hosts like Joanna and Antonio. The reviews are what helped us make a decision, and are very glad we decided to vacation here! Thank you Joanna & Antonio for helping make our trip to Italy a wonderful memory. Diana & Dave

A villa in Tuscany - a dream come true.
Living in Australia, it is a fair hike to get to that beautiful part of the world known as Tuscany. I had the pleasure to spend 2 weeks in the Villa Rossa with 3 other couples, owned by Joanna and Antonio. The weather was kind and we took advantage of the long days and got out and about, exploring the surrounding countryside. I had the pleasure of the cute loft room, and my first activity each morning consisted of opening the skylight and standing on the bed to poke my head out to see what the day was like. Always gorgeous. The view back to the village is rich and colourful and the sound of the Lima River rushing by was like a tonic. Location was great - just a short walk down to the village for a coffee and pastry, or to catch the bus. We could catch the bus to Lucca, but anywhere else was a bit tricky (to say the least) and I think next time I would rent a car. We caught the bus a lot, but the timetable made for some very late returns some nights. The villa was very cosy once we got the heating to work. Antonio was very helpful when we called for help. The kitchen was pretty well equipped and we had more than enough crockery and cutlery. Joanna had lots of suggestions like the Italian Mumma to cook and the visit to a working olive oil business and winery - which was fantastic. Our party of 4 couples had a lovely time together, with the villa being large enough to sneak away for a nanna nap or to sit around together to drink wine and chit chat. All in all, a fabulous fortnight.

Idyllic Italian Retreat!
As the plane door opened in Pisa my little girl (who's ears were blocked from the flight) shouted back at me "Look Mom it's Summertime!", and it was. We were so lucky to leave Rainy Ireland behind in June and spend 3 wonderful weeks in Tuscany. Villa Rossa (or "The Red House" as my kids called it) is beautiful. The house itself has everything you could wish for, simple things like loads of glasses, cutlery, kitchen equipment made it a home from home. The house itself is spotless. Joanna explained everything in great detail and even took the time to show us around the village which was much appreciated as we got our bearings straight away. Our children are 6 and 4, the house was perfect for them with a very safe, gated pool and lots of toys. My Parents and Uncle joined us for 12 days during our stay and the house is so well proportioned that we all had our own space. We enjoyed using the BBQ and Pizza Oven having some lovely family nights eating 'Al Fresco'. Villa Rossa is a great base for travelling around the area and if you don't have a car (which we didn't for the 1st week) the buses and trains are great value and on time (most of the time!) Lucca is a beautiful walled town, we cycled quite a bit here which made the trip very memorable. Another day we jumped (literally) on a train to Florence and ended up staying the night there....my children loved the excitement of it. Horse riding, adventure centres etc were all very accessible and very child friendly. We loved everything about the holiday and could not fault Villa Rossa in any way. As we got in the taxi on the last morning a very bleary eyed little girl looked up at me and whispered "The days went too fast Mom" and they did! We were all very sad to be leaving :( but we will be back :)

High turnover takes its toll
We stayed at Villa Rossa as part of a family group in early September. It’s at the top end of the rental prices in the area, but ticked all of our boxes. We wanted to share our opinions to help future travellers make a more informed choice. The villa is set over four levels, accessed by a spiral staircase. It has been initially refurbished to a high standard. There is a good selection of toys, books and games. While there is no TV reception, there are videos and DVDs for adults and children. The raised pool area is ideal for children. Other reviews have made reference to the narrow road and parking at Villa Rossa, but we didn’t find this a problem for our Puntos. However, we felt that the high turnover is taking its toll on the Villa. There were a number of issues that left us feeling that the reality didn’t match up to the ‘hype’ concerning Villa Rossa’s luxuriousness: There were no mattress protectors on the beds for comfort or hygiene, nor was there a change of linen, which would have been useful given that there was no washing machine available. We wrongly assumed that the villa had one and it wasn’t until calling the owner to find it where it was that we realised it didn’t. There were no covers for the duvets – and we did need them, it did get cold at night. The mezzanine bed had a valance masquerading as a sheet, which didn’t fit and unravelled at the slightest wriggle! A number of the lights weren’t working and various bedside lamps were missing. The towels that we’d hired had seen better days and were threadbare. Annoying, given that we had paid for them. Most of the appliances had British plugs, so take your own adaptors. It’s also worthwhile pointing out to readers that the garden area is not grassed, as per the photos. Our issues aside, we did have a great holiday and would recommend the area. Would we recommend Villa Rossa? Well, yes, as long as one’s fully aware of its plus points and negatives. It doesn’t quite match up to the home from home that’s been portrayed in its advertising and reviews on the rental sites, unless one doesn’t use duvet covers, have a television with no reception or a microwave, but it is in a good location.

Hidden gem
Brilliant gem of a property in Bagni di Lucca. Excellent pool area, perfect for relaxing. The location is brilliant, there are loads of restaurant options in the town, a short walk and very reasonably priced! Good amount of space for everyone in the villa. The only shame was the lighting around the outdoor table - it was perfect for lunch but a bit dark for the evenings. Highly recommend!

September getaway
This property is fabulous, spacious, comfortable and clean (photos really don’t do it justice!!) and located a short walk away from the charming town of Bagni Di Lucca. It was really well-equipped for our group of 10 adults staying for the week, with plenty of cooking essentials, crockery, glassware and cutlery that meant we could cook some great meals! We loved the pool and the outdoor space especially. Overall would definitely recommend :)

Property was tired and dated. Access incredibly poor.
There were problems from the moment we arrived. A few could have been resolved but in the main they were a consequence of the properties challenging location and very dark poorly lit and dated interior. The access track is very narrow and our car got scratched. A small Fiat would cope but a modest sized family hatchback VW car is very difficult to get up the track. Our car got a scratched wing mirror and we avoided driving as much as we could. The track is uneven and our daughter had a serious fall. The photos and description are that of a fairly smart family villa. A place you could take friends we thought as a treat. But it’s scruffy and tired and I would be embarrassed to have taken friends there. The pool is freezing and we did not realise it would be so cold. Heating is essential not optional. We could only use it briefly and in the early evening when it was warm enough to swim a few lengths. Wasp nest outside in eves plus lots of mosquitoes made sunbathing not an option. Bedrooms hot and the floor standing fans insufficient leading to poor sleep. We are all covered in bites despite covering ourselves in repellent and clothing. Unable to eat outside at table as bitten by mosquitoes and lots of wasps. An attempt to remove the wasp nest with an aerosol failed. No mosquito nets for beds. Most Sun loungers had no actual sun lounger pads. The property is nearby the area’s ambulance centre so constantly awoken at night by sirens and followed by dogs barking along the river valley. Lighting was so poor with limited options as low energy bulbs. Too dark to read your book.

Sanitair was netjes schoon. Maar sommige andere delen van het huis onvoldoende schoon; bv gordijnen niet schoon, koelkast 2 (beneden) vies, spinnenwebben en dode insecten (beneden). Slechts 1 goed werkende parasol, de tweede was kapot. 6 comfortabele ligbedden.

Superb Villa in a lovely rural area
We have recently returned home after spending a fantastic week at Villa Rossa. We are a family of six adults and the villa was perfect for our needs, we found it very comfortable and welcoming. It's rural setting was the best place to enjoy a quiet relaxing time, but good to have shops and local amenities close by. We spent all of our mealtimes outside under the gazebo while cooking on the BBQ or in the pizza oven which was so much fun, we didn't feel the need to go out to eat at all. The swimming pool was the perfect place to cool off as the weather was fabulous. We had great days out visiting Lucca, Pisa, Florence and the beach at Lido I'd Camiore, but it was so nice to get back to the villa to chill out and relax after our time sightseeing. We would recommend this Villa Rossa to anyone planning a family holiday to Tuscany, we had a very happy time there. Sorry we didn't get to meet you Antonio, but thank you for sharing Villa Rossa.

Great family villa in terrific location
We have just had a great extended family holiday in Tuscany staying at Villa Rossa. Our extended family included, my wife’s sister, our son and daughter, their partners and children (20 months to 3 years) In total there were 7 adults and 3 children. Villa Rossa was perfect for us. The ground floor 1 bed apartment was ideal for our daughter, her partner and 20 month old twins. It was on one level with its own kitchen and led directly to the garden. The main living are with its kitchen enabled us to cook meals for our large family group in the evening. Many a great night was spent together out in the garden, enjoying the swimming pool and bbq. The property was set in beautiful countryside with a short walk to the shops. The villa was clean, tidy and Antonio, the owner was charming and very helpful Villa Rossa is perfect for a family group. It is in a great location and ideal for anyone wanting a to rent a villa with the home from home feel about it. If you are thinking of booking a holiday villa in Tuscany we would recommend Villa Rossa, it is terrific.

Super holiday
We stayed this August at Villa Rossa and had an amazing time. The property exceeded our expectations set in beautiful countryside and a short walk to the shops. The villa was clean, tidy and the owner very helpful. We did notice a review that commented that the property in their opinion was disappointing. We did not find it so, we were definatley in agreement with most other reviewers that it was great! Thanks for sharing your amazing villa with us Antonio.
