Just O.K
Where do I begin. We arrived to a smokey /soot odor from the ashes in the huge fireplace. We requested it to be cleaned to help alleviate the odor but were told it could not be done until the following evening. Worried that our wedding clothes would smell, we took care of it and the 3 bags of ashes. I understood that this was a very old "traditional" manor but it missed the mark in so many ways considering the high cost. The kitchen was awful. It was dirty. Dust and cobwebs in cabinets. The dishes, coffee mugs and wine glasses all old and just need to be updated. The entire first floor was just old and tired and needed to be thoroughly cleaned. The furniture in the "living area" is old and dusty and filthy and uncomfortable. There is so much "stuff" on the walls and simply everywhere in keeping with the "theme" of medievil , that the villa is simply not comfortable. There is absolutely nowhere to gather in evenings. There is no reason why this villa cannot have a couple of updated sofas. The bedrooms were comfortable , the baths were adequate, the staircase with the rope railing is treacherous and at the very least should have a sturdier railing. The pool was very nice but sadly that should not have to make up for the negatives of the main house. Considering we paid over $800 a night this potentially beautiful property should be at the very least brought into the 21st century w/ a updated kitchen and new sofa to accommodate the guests.
