Classic Family-Owned Bayerische Hotel Experience
This is a family owned hotel for many generations. The location is a short walk from the lake, and has a great view of it (from upper floors at least). It was great to watch the owner interact with the German guests during our fantastic home cooked dinner. Even without understanding a word, I could tell they were happy to be there. As a non-German speaker, I had no trouble talking with him in English, but was jealous of the fun the others had. The menu is one choice of what they are making for the day, but it will probably be something good, and well priced.
The room I had was comfortable and in great shape. Some items are older, but that is common for these smaller hotels, where they furnished the rooms with quality, and the items do not wear out just because they are no longer as fashionable.
As someone traveling alone on business, and having one free day off, I valued the family feel of this hotel to feel a little less a stranger in a strange land, even for 24 hours.
Especially good if you like whiskies of all kinds. The bar seems to be an excuse for the owner to collect and sample whiskies.
