Our home is a beautiful and quirky grade 2 listed thatched cottage, with a modern extension. On the ground floor there is a large lounge, kitchen and garden room, along with the master bedroom with en-suite. Up three stairs takes you to bedroom 3 which has twin beds. Up a short (but steep) flight of stairs you get bedroom 2, which has a very large landing we use as a play space. Bedroom 2 has a double bed.
The house was originally built in mid 1600s and there is an inglenook, remains of a bread oven and low ceilings (in the lounge). The heavy oak beams in the lounge started their lives as ship masts. There are wonky walls and floors in the cottage but these contrast nicely with the modern extension which is spacious, light and bright.
The garden is beautiful, with a large lawn perfect for football or croquet.
A small brook runs through the garden and on the other side, over a small bridge, we have a rewilded area where there are wild flowers and fruit trees.
The house is down the end of a lane, there is no passing traffic and all you will hear at night are the local owls, foxes, badgers and deer.
The village is very quiet; lots of footpaths crisscross the fields so walking about is very popular. Bring your wellies!
The local beaches are Seaton, Lyme Regis and Charmouth. For fossil finders young and old, head to Lyme Regis and Charmouth.
Exeter is a 45 minute drive away, and well worth a day out. Sidmouth and Bridport are both bigger towns with lots to do.
As hosts we will be able to advise possible itineraries based on individual bookings.
