Travis Heights Art House

Summary:
Marvel at stunning views from both the spacious, 400 sq. ft. covered patio and the rooftop deck of this stylish, modern guest house at one of the highest points in Austin. Private, design-forward and featuring original works by local artists, this custom-built home is nestled under a canopy of pecan trees and is perfect for remote working! Big Stacy pool, open year round is steps away.

The Space:
This quiet, historic neighborhood, walkable to South Congress and just south of Lady Bird Lake provides visitors with a genuine South Austin experience. Single travelers and couples alike will adore this one-of-a-kind space with lots of natural light and upscale amenities.

We commissioned local architects, DCA to design this space specifically for our guests, right here in the heart of Travis Heights and near all the best Austin has to offer. Colorful, modern tile work, double "Hans Grohe" shower heads, and custom cabinetry are just of few of the finishes that complement the high ceilings and picture windows throughout.

A spectacular covered patio and rooftop deck provide unique spaces to enjoy the great outdoors for yoga, reading, socializing, or remote working. We also offer complimentary Public Goods essentials for your comfort and locally roasted coffee for your local flavor experiences.

FUN FILM FACT: Shortly after we moved into the front (original) home, we learned that our house was used in the 1993 film 'Dazed and Confused' by Richard Linklater. You can see the house best when Tony (Anthony Rapp) and Sabrina (Christin Hinojosa) are kissing goodbye (a tender moment) at the end of the film.

The rooftop deck is a shared space for us and our guests. If you let us know in advance, we can reserve the rooftop for you.

Seasonal Events like F1, and SXSW require a 4-night minimum rental.

Guest Access:
We offer self-check-in.

•We cannot guarantee early check-ins or late checkouts in advance. If the house happens to be ready earlier than our standard 4 pm check-in time on the day of your arrival, we, in most cases will allow an early check-in. For a reliable alternative with guaranteed check-in or check-out timing, it's recommended to book the night before or after your scheduled arrival or departure.

The Neighborhood:
Known by locals as Austin's urban forest, Travis Heights is located just south of Downtown and just north of the 40-acre Blunn Creek Nature Preserve. Walk to SoCo or head down the private alley to Big Stacy Pool at any time of year.

Getting Around:
The neighborhood encourages walking and cycling with trail access and bike lanes to more than 20 miles of bustling central Austin. South Congress is a short 10 minute walk away, providing some of the best shopping, dining and people watching in the city. Guest can walk down our private alley to Big Stacy Pool. The Pool is open year round (heated in winter), offers free-admission and is complete with swimming lanes and children section.

Other Things to Note:
We believe in cleanliness. Please help us by honoring this request.
Pack n Plays or High Chairs must be requested prior to arrival.

Bookings over 14 days are not allowed.

Interaction with Guests:
We live in a separate unit on the property which is located opposite the back yard and accessible via a private drive and entrance. We would be happy to assist with dining, entertainment and cultural event recommendations while you are staying with us.

Beautiful views, great location
My husband and I visited Austin for an anniversary get away. We had not been there in a long time and it is just a short drive from our home in Houston. This vacation home is located in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. It was very quiet and calm both day and night. It was easy to get to and from anywhere we wanted to go. This was a high end modern garage apartment behind a classic home. It has a very pleasant private covered patio area to sit when you want to drink your coffee in the morning. The interior is clean and decorated with artwork. The kitchen has everything you need and nice appliances. The restroom has a hot shower with different jet options. The bedroom is very nice and each of the windows do have shades, although you may need a step stool to reach one of them. We loved the minimal and artistic style of the whole place. I think I only wanted for a softer bed pillow and an extra hand towel, but I didn't take the time to reach out to ask. The owner was near by in the front house if we had needed anything! I would definitely stay there again, although I would want to avoid those big VRBO fees by instead booking directly with Stay local Austin.

Peaceful and Lovely Modern Guesthouse
My husband and I stayed in this beautiful space for our 23rd wedding anniversary. The guesthouse is modern, clean, and very well designed. The furnishings, kitchen items, linens and other design choices were all very thoughtfully made; we could tell that the owners went out of their way to make the space the best it could be for their guests. We loved the covered outdoor patio, the proximity to the park, and the quiet surroundings. We were a bit sad to leave and look forward to our next visit!
