Old and Worn
We rented this apartment for 2 weeks in May 2022. It was up the mountain slope of the village as is typical of the Amalfi Coast (hence not easily found on google maps). Our legs grew stronger as the days of climbing 124 steps up passed. The town is so cute and very close to Amalfi with its transportation and other commercial resources. People here are very friendly.
The unusual antique furniture in the apartment was interesting and the beds were alright for sleeping, but we were disappointed with the apartment. It seems the apartment has not been maintained since its original renovation. The bathroom floor and shower surround in particular need attention. Some things were broken, some just old and worn, e.g., the fry pan, the towels, the clothes drying rack. Some things absent e.g., clothes pins, a lighter with fuel in it to light the kitchen stove. There was not even one 250 ml cup that British, Canadian, or American folks would use for tea or coffee.
Things could have been done to make up for the awkward floor layout but were not done e.g., one towel rack is just not enough for an apartment that could sleep up to 5 or 7 people; there are no hooks in the bathroom to hang your clothes or bath robe; and the only closets are in the living room.
The staff of L’Altra Costiera tried to address some of our concerns e.g., replace light bulbs and replace the terrasse chair that broke as we sat down. However, it was still an overall big disappointment.
