We brought a group of teachers for a conference and staff retreat. The house was spacious and the bed/bath situation was perfect for groups of people that need some space. It is about 15 minutes from the Galleria center. The host was very responsive and communicative, the property was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Here are some things I think people should know:
1. The location is great and the property is secure (lots of gates and locks) but it is not a great area. We were greeted by a homeless man outside the gate upon arrival. The women did not feel comfortable going outside alone and no one felt comfortable going outside alone after dark.
2. The beds were comfortable but the pillows and mattresses are all wrapped in plastic, making sleeping a sweaty experience.
3. The back area of the house stays very cool but the front does not and the host does not allow you to adjust the thermostat below 70.
4. The back bathroom’s shower does not get very hot because the toilet in that bathroom is hooked up to the hot water instead of the cold.
5. The kitchen has a fairly decent amount of pots and pans, but no dishwasher soap. The coffee maker has a missing carafe lid and only works if you hold a button down the entire time you brew. Huge fridge, but there are no shelves.
6. There was an ant problem, it was addressed immediately but the ants still persisted.
Overall, we had a great time and would consider staying again, especially if these things were addressed.
