Although Athens is the highly regarded hometown of the Dawgs, it’s much more than just an awesome college town. Visitors will love strolling through campus and cheering on the red-and-black at one of the town’s many football bars, but Athens is also one of the most predominant cultural hubs in the state of Georgia. The city boasts iconic historical establishments like the Morton Theater, Georgia Museum of Art and of course the famous Georgia Theater. USA Today named Athens as one of the most underrated food destinations in the country, and you’ll want to take an extensive food tour of the local spots to understand why.
