A big disappointment
This apartment was a big disappointment! This one-bedroom unit is very tiny, there's no sink in the bathroom (only in the kitchen/living room) and nowhere to dine. The shower leaked and the doors squeaked badly - trying to get these fixed was a frustration. The owners are a married couple; she lives in France and is hard to reach. He is off on safari most of the time. They don't communicate well with each other and getting an answer or problem solved was a frustrating process. The two women who work there were wonderful and very nice but had only worked there a few weeks so couldn't really help with the problems. The first day there was construction including removing tile from the next door unit - I had to ask if they could stop so I could have some quiet. The pool had just been drained and the grounds were a mess from construction. There's an orphanage right next door and the kids yell, cry, sing, talk all the time. I wanted to switch to the two bedroom unit but after three days of trying to work that out, the owner in Paris said she couldn't arrange it. That unit was empty most of the time as it turned out. When I wanted to leave early and get a refund, the owner said he could only refund half of what I paid due to his PayPal fees. I left one night early and didn't even try to get a refund - I was exhausted by then. It took my Tanzanian friend three calls to the Tanzanian owner (in Swahili) to get my deposit refunded (I had asked him about it and he instructed one of the women to do it but she didn't). The one and two bedroom units do have newer appliances and tile work and have an updated, modern feel which is nice. I just wish I had been told how tiny the one bedroom unit is for two people. It's really just for one person. The entire situation was unorganized and frustrating!
