El Salto Compound-Private setting on 3 acres with trees- 3 separate homes

Arroyo Seco - El Salto area - 10 miles to Taos Ski Valley - 2 miles to Arroyo Seco Village and 8 miles to Taos, NM

El Salto Log Compound is one of Premiere's largest properties sleeping 18 guests in 8 bedrooms (includes 2 lofts) and 6.5 bathrooms. The compound boasts 2 hot tubs, 3 kitchens, 3 living rooms, 2 large flat screen TV's and one standard flat screen TV.

The awesome design and architecture of El Salto the log home sends guests home with a most memorable vacation stay and a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience an authentic log home. The Guest Cabin (located next to El Salto Log Home) and Private Cabin (nestled by itself at bottom of tree protected drive) offer efficient separation for large groups wanting to stay "together" with a sense of privacy and togetherness all at once.

The guest house proximity to the log home makes it a perfect separation for children and teens to have their own space to watch big screen TV and play table games for day time and early evening recreation. Two hot tubs means most everyone who wants to soak will find hot tub space at any given time. The luxury of 3 kitchens means that separate families can separately prepare food and convene for group meals. A piano in in place as an added attraction for groups - there is always someone who plays the piano and always many who love to sing along with a piano player.

This Taos cabin, guest house and log home vacation spot is a gem of a find in the Premiere Properties Taos Vacation Rentals inventory. We promise, you will run home and delight friends and family with photos and tales of your Taos lodging experience at El Salto Log Home Compound.

Great place in a great location!
We loved El Salto Compound. It had plenty of space for our group, we loved the architecture, the views and the fairly close proximity to Taos Ski Valley. Denise, the property manager, was easy to communicate with and very helpful when we had questions. We had a great stay!

A slice of heaven for my birthday!
Just returned from a wonderful stay in Taos. I would highly recommend El Salto for a large group. We had a group of 10 and plenty of room. We convened for meals, cocktails, etc., in the main house. As others have said, there are steps and a sunken LR in the main house, but we strategically placed a chair and end table and had no problems (and we aren't spring chickens). Terra was amazingly responsive to our needs. Also, I have stayed in many rental homes and this one had nearly every pot, pan, utensil, etc., one might want. The view is amazing. Sunsets were perfect. You can't go wrong here!

Annual Family Reunion
Everyone enjoyed staying at this property. We did have to scramble to be able to use a grill because the ones on the back porch would not function. Called the caretaker who allowed us to use one that was in the garage. It was very dirty so we cleaned it. There were 4 empty propane bottles there so we had to go get a new one for our grilling which was one night. The house is beautiful but the stairs were un manageable for our older family so we had to rearrange sleeping arrangements. The group would like to go back again next year.

El Salto Compound
This is a great place for large gatherings located in a quiet and peaceful area outside of Taos. There is a beautiful hiking trail nearby and we enjoyed the villiage of Arroyo Seco. We had a wonderful stay, but there needs to be more attention to detail and having the house properly stocked with cleaning supplies, paper goods, laundry detergent, dishwasher soap, etc. We needed to make several inquiries regarding supplies. The property also needs some attention to the upkeep as some window shades were broken, window screens were missing, loose faucets, dishwasher tips forward, outlet didn't work, etc. A list of needed repairs has been sent privately to the owner. For users of the master bedroom in the main lodge, it is beautiful and comfortable, but it is noisy and not private, as it does not have a solid door. As stated by others, the step down into the living room is problematic and could be hazardous to some. We recommend that there be a more thorough user manual for appliances and the workings of the house. While it is a nice place, it would be even nicer with some tender loving care.

The VIEW
THE VIEW🚂💜🚂To be totally honest we absolutely loved all three homes. There were some items that we had to call on but the Caretaker always answered or called back and went out of her way to remedy things that came up. CAUTION : this house is not, I repeat not a place for older or littles. There are so many trip hazards. The living room sets down from the main floor about 6 “ and you walk in to the most gorgeous views so your eyes are immediately drawn up and out as your walking in and you step off that ledge and fall off that step, they also have the furniture moved out from that step all the way around so you can step off anywhere without realizing it. A railing would be a safety feature that would be so helpful. It also really limits accessibility for people - they may have said in the description, I don’t remember seeing it It would benefit greatly to be marked clearer and bolder to prevent falls. This was a Celebration of Life/Love gathering for my husband. . 5 falls happened in the home during our stay. We would Definately choose this again, going in knowing all of this. Hot tub was excellent although more walkway lighting is needed. Beautiful bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Wifi worked really well for all of us. Ages 7yrs to 88 yrs. Couple of people tripped on the steps in the dark. There need to be clear instructions regarding the stove. Could not get it to work till the second day. (There are none available online that we could find)

Amazing Gorgeous Family Cabins
This property was the perfect location for a large, multi family ski vacation. The main house is just gorgeous, beautiful views, warm and cozy. The other two houses decorated so thoughtfully and perfect for multiple families. The hot tubs perfect for after ski muscles. We were a party of 12, the best thing was that the main house had SO much seating and table space for games, hanging out and meals. The kitchen had everything for larger groups. Very clean, and the caretaker was very communicative and helpful for any questions or special needs. Had amazing skiing. Great trip and definitely would stay at this property again. Need 4x4 or all wheel drive if there during winter weather.

Quiet and roomy
Great house and two excellent smaller houses. Plenty of room. Very clean. Nice hottub and good location to the slopes and town. Beds were super comfortable. Couches and tables in main room made for comfort with a big group. Could anything be better? Sure. The things that made us a little nutty were the appliances were not intuitive to use. We are 6 smart guys and we just stood in front of the dish washing machine, then the stovetop and finally figured them out. A how-to guide would be super helpful. The microwave has a sign in it that says” broken, will fix in am” but 4 am’s later still no microwave. Like the sign at the bar that says “free beer tomorrow.” Bad stuff? The driveway was treacherous and super icy. Our suv actually slid backwards 5 feet with the ebrake on. Twice. It was dangerous to walk out the front door to the car. Three of us (sober) also fell off the funky ledge all around the main room but were caught by the sofas. Old people would not be comfortable walking around there with these funky variable height changes in the main room. Hot tub was great. Showers were nice. Good cell phone coverage. Being woken up by coyotes at night is kinda cool too. Beware the main road. Deep muddy ruts. Need 4wd and a little courage on certain days esp at night. Would go again but not with anyone with mobility issues.

Unforgettable week in a wonderful setting
The El Salto log home and cabins was the perfect setting for my large group (13 adults) visiting Taos for an unforgettable week of skiing. Since the property has 3 buildings and many bedrooms, each guest had sufficient privacy. The main house was fantastic for everyone to meet for dinners. We loved the front porch view into the valley and we treated our sore muscles sitting in the big hot tub and watching the sun set on Lucero Peak. We've taken many ski vacations and stayed in lots of homes and condos, but El Salto was our best group stay ever!

Water Turned Off in Smaller Cabin
Horrible! We had this place booked for months. The management company was aware that there wasn't water in the smaller cabin for WEEKS but waited until the night before our arrival to notify us. Of course, we didn't have time to find another place so we were stuck. They offered us about 10% back on what we paid for the inconvenience. We weren't able to check in at 4:00, so the fifteen of us had to wait while they finished "cleaning." They implied that this was due to them having to address the water situation in the smaller cabin, but later admitted they've been trying to get a plumber for weeks to come make a repair. This place is in dire need of a thorough cleaning and some TLC. There were lot of cobwebs, dust, hair in showers, etc. Many of the kitchen appliances are working poorly. and/or inconsistently. The burners of the stove didn't always work, refrigerator wasn't as cold as it should be. Microwave use tripped the circuits. The outside grill wouldn't stay hot. The location is quiet, the grounds are nice. There was room for everyone. We didn't use the hot tubs. This house is not ideal for the elderly. It has a step down livingroom which is a major trip hazard. There is tape placed on the floor around the perimeter in order to try to alleviate this problem. The main floor king bed was too tall for my small, elderly mother to climb. For the amount that they are charging, it only seems fair to expect clean lodging and working appliances. For this reason, I would not recommend this property.

We were celebrating as a family. Both cabin were cute and accurately describe. The main house is were we spent most of our time. It's beautiful. Kitchen well stocked with everything you need. Both patios were nice and had comfy furniture. Hot tubs looked nice but we did not use them. Paths were well lit and graveled.

Incredible place for groups
This VRBO property was amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. The pictures in the listing do not do it justice! The main house has a beautiful large kitchen (stocked with spices and spare chairs!) incredible mountain views, and a luxurious master bedroom on the main floor with some sleeping arrangements upstairs as well. The two guest houses are steps away and in great condition. Both hot tubs were amazing and cozy. The property manager was attentive and easy to get a hold of. Beware that if it’s snowy outside, you do need a 4-wheel drive! :) Overall, we would HIGHLY recommend this spot - don’t hesitate to book it if it’s available!

The property is located in a beautiful area. The house and casitas are very nice but the home and casitas were not clean. There were cobwebs, the floors had not been mopped, dust on the furniture, I could go on. I did communicate this to property manager when we arrived. We also found a dead bird under pillows in the living room. If this property had a thorough cleaning it would be a great place to stay.
