"Very good Hotel this is the Top Hotel in Darlington well worth the Money and good food really kind helpful staff."

"I would like to have given 5 star for service as when we ordered food from the bar the staff were attentive, polite and very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. However earlier in the evening I called the restaurant from the room to book a table, when I had only said hello I was met with a very abrupt ‘the line is terrible’ to which I stated ‘I’m sorry I’m calling from one of the phones in the rooms’. I then proceeded to request a table and again very abruptly told we have nothing until 8.30/8.45. I really felt like it was too much trouble and didn’t feel welcomed at all. I booked the table initially for 6 people, we were I fact part of a lager group of around 20 people staying at the hotel for an event we were attending the next day. Having spoke to the other people in the party we decided against it and ate from the bar instead. I would not recommend anyone to book to dine at the restaurant based on this encounter. Also may I add that most of the tables were not occupied from around 7pm until the time we were told we could eat from so I don’t understand why we couldn’t get a reservation either. Very disappointing experience. "

"From the minute we walked in ALL the staff were amazing, so helpful, cheerful, they never stopped. We had a lovely stay the hotel was very clean & warm (once we found out how the towel rail worked !!) Thank you for a memorable trip"

"Fantastic hotel. Pool isn’t in the actual hotel so we didn’t try it, but the hotel is great. Very clean, very helpful staff, very comfortable. "

"We had a fabulous stay in the Ancient Unicorn. We were a family of 4 and also had our dog with us. We stayed in the Charles Dickens Cottage and it was outstanding. When we arrived, the cottage was warm and welcoming. The kitchen was well-equipped. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were super friendly. The location is great for exploring the area. We look forward to coming back in the future."

"Very much enjoyed my stay here. Travelling alone this time, so wasn’t in one of the larger rooms. It had everything I needed though. Particularly appreciated the friendly staff on reception and the availability of some parking. Would be very happy to stay here again. "
