About this property

Entire place

You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.

HighlandHouse: Kid & Dog-Friendly

This cabin has been in its owner's family for 40 years—three generations have enjoyed this respite among the tall pines. The 2-story cabin on a double lot has lots of space, light, and old-school charm. The game room with pool table honors the owner's Scottish roots, including the "kilt" carpet. Lang may yer lum reek!

Individual room AC and heat. Summer: community pool

Fast reliable internet. Big Trees Park and Stanislaus River whitewater. Now with 220v EV charging...bring your 14-50 adapter.

Families love the layout: kids in the game room giving the kitchen-dining-living room for the adults. Outside includes front and back decks and a fire pit. Games for the adults, lots of toys for the kids, and a regulation pool table add up to fun for everyone. Please note there are WiFi cameras pointing out from the living room to the top of the front driveway and laundry room to the side yard. These are primarily for monitoring snow levels security. They don't monitor guest activity other than brief entries and exits.

Everything is accessible except one owner's closet.

I spend more time than most helping guests optimize their enjoyment. It's all about the fun you have while you're here AND your trips here and back. Let me know the ages and preferences of everyone in your party and I'll have plenty of recommendations.

Outdoor adventures beckon—white water rivers, lakes, high country hiking, caving and downhill skiing are all close. Or check out the nearby gold rush towns for excellent wine tasting, historic tours and boutique shopping.

Be sure to be driving a 4WD, AWD or carry chains/cables in Winter. Every year vehicles slide off the road and hit trees from underestimating the danger.

In Winter, you may need to turn on or off the water supply and/or drain the pipes. The valve is located on the left side near the front of the house as viewed from the street. For draining, first turn off the valve (under the lid) then turn and leave on the nearby water spigot.
"Pets allowed" refers to dogs only. Due to allergy concerns, cats are not allowed.

- Neighbors are far away but our hilltop location means sound travels farther than usual. Please take it inside after 9 pm.

- When using campfire, be sure to have the water hose handy to douse errant sparks.

GARBAGE RELATED FEES
Because weekly street side garbage/recycling pickup is unavailable or impractical for this property, we ask guests to pack out their bags of separated garbage and recycling to the convenient Avery Transfer Station…a minute off Hwy 4 in Avery…4541 Seagale Road, Avery, CA.

If departing on Wednesday or Thursday when the Avery Transfer Station is closed, please leave your bags sealed/tied in the kitchen.

Because the housecleaners don’t always have room in their vehicles for full bags of garbage and recycling, we have to pay a service $5/bag to remove those bags. If you’re unable to remove your bags, please leave $5 per bag in cash. If you prefer to pay by credit card through AirBnB, use the “send/request money” function to transfer the fee. Thanks for your understanding.
