I booked a budget single room so I knew it was going to be small, but how small can a room in a decent looking hotel really be? The answer is ' a lot smaller than you think!'. I've looked again at the photos on the hotel website but they don't convey quite how cramped it actually is.
There is no headboard on the bed so I put the chair between the bed and the window to stop the pillows falling off whilst I slept. Your clothes have to go onto 3 hangers which live on 2 wall hooks over the bed
The shower room was similar tiny; luckily I'm only 5'7" so I could sit on the toilet without squashing my face against the opposite wall but I pity any six footers who stayed there. There is also a step running across the floor of the shower room, but with the tiles being all the same dark green pattern it could not be seen. Even when I knew it was there I still managed to twist my foot on it or trip over it in a momentary lack of concentration.
The rest of the hotel is fine; nicely decorated with a nautical theme, with friendly staff, reasonable breakfast and light evening meal (soup and various salads).
I hope the 'normal' rooms are good because these budget rooms let the hotel down very badly.
