We booked the "Deluxe Room" for $30-$50 above the base rate because it had a king-size bed and a mountain view. We paid extra since smaller beds make it difficult for us to sleep. We also chose this hotel because it included Wi-Fi, which we needed for work.
Upon arrival, we were given a room with a full-size bed and a window facing the hotel’s interior. The thin curtains didn’t block the light, allowing people to see inside when the lights were on. The room was also damp.
After reviewing our reservation, we realized we were in an "Economy Room," not the Deluxe Room we had booked. When we brought this to the staff’s attention, the manager insisted the room was correct and refused to make changes. She claimed the bed was a king, but after I explained a king bed is 2m x 2m, she admitted it wasn’t. However, she said nothing could be done, as all rooms were occupied, and denied our refund request.
The next day, we were moved to a room with a king bed, but it still faced the interior and had the same see-through curtains. We never got the mountain view we paid for.
We contacted Expedia for a refund, but the hotel refused. Fortunately, Expedia gave us points for future bookings.
To make things worse, there was no Wi-Fi during our stay, and cell reception didn’t reach the rooms.
In summary:
We didn’t get the room we reserved.
The hotel refused a refund.
No Wi-Fi.
Damp rooms with little privacy.
