Nice Property on the skids
At one time, Le Domaine must have been a very beautiful resort. It is in a great location, on a small bay (Anse Marcel) with a pretty beach that is shared with two other resorts. But the resort has obviously had some financial hard times it now appears partially shut down, and many of the local businesspeople thought that it had already gone out of business. Vital services, such as the restaurant, are still running but much of the property seems to have been mothballed. For example, the fountains were all dry, much landscaping was left unkempt, and the pool was dry awaiting maintenance (it looked like it had been waiting for quite some time).

This Hotel is now more of a residence. The property is very dilapidated. The beds have pillows that have separated in lumps due to age. The beach has a very limited supply of towels. There is a big hole in the property which was once a pool. The beach is beautiful. The resort breakfast was very good as well. The people working at the resort do the best to please you.

Not as Described
I arrived at the hotel and was amazed at how beautiful the area was. Unfortunately the staff and amenities ruined my stay. The staff was rude and completely unhelpful The restaurant and pool were closed for my stay without any prior notice. There was no shower only a bathtub in the middle of the room. The toilet was in a small closet when you first came in. The room was not user friendly and the refrigerator wouldnt close and the freezer was over stuffed with ice that just melted onto the floor. When I inquired about checking out they said all reservations booked through expedia could only be dealt with through expedia. I sat on hold with expedia for 1/2 hour and never got through to a representative. I stayed the full 4 days but spent my time away from the resort at all times.

We arrived at check-in time but the room wasn't ready and they made us waited outside for 3 hours. It wasn't just us and saw many people who couldn't check in on time. The room wasn't what we had booked. They said they upgraded but it was just a big room with a very low ceiling and did not have any feature I had booked for such as bed type and jacuzzi. Some features listed up are not true. You don't have control for air conditioning in your room and have to call a tech man to change temperature. Beach chairs and parasols are very limited so you can't get one unless you go there early in the morning. No bathrobe provided and some amenities like shampoo is half used by former guests. Cable TV channels are less than 10. You should also bring insect deterrent because I got about 10 tick bites while sleeping on a bed.

Go to the Radisson
The hotel had a great location with the beach. The room was ok, but now up to the standards one would expect for the cost of the room. Exceeding higher cost that one would not expect for the meals and drinks. The staff seemed to have not a care to help you and would not answer questions in a positive manner. Lobby was very poor. Service was poor.

Very Very Very Poor Hotel
I have stayed over 100 hotels in nearly 50 countries but this was the worst hotel I'ver ever stayed. The hotel is managedincredibly poorly with horrible service and our stay ended up in disaster. Because of all what happend to me, I had to complain so many times but they did not try to improve the situation and just keep saying sorry. Some features listed is not true. Worst hotel with worst management ever
I have stayed over 100 hotels in nearly 50 countries but this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The property itself is pretty but run by very poor management and our stay ended up in disaster. The room wasn't what we had booked. They said they upgraded but it was just a big room with a very low ceiling and did not have any feature I had booked for such as number of beds and jacuzzi. I had to talk to staffs so many times but they do not try to do anything to improve the situation but to keep saying sorry. They eventually agreed to give us the room the next day with the features we originally requested, but they of course made us waited again before we can check into the new room. Some features listed up are not true. You don't have control for air conditioning in your room and have to call a tech man to change temperature. We had stayed at a different hotel on the island too and the island is lovely and has much better hotels than here with much lower prices with much better service and management.

Read the fine print!
We booked a four person suite advertised at $348 on the Expedia sight and were surprised when they tacked on a $250 extra person charge for our daughter as the third person in the room. Restaurant was not available unless you had signed up for the all exclusive plan, which was not mentioned on the web site. We ate at the hotel next door. Rooms were very plain though large. Had to ask twice at the front desk to have the spare bed made up that we had paid the $250 extra for. Nice beach, but otherwise there are plenty of better places to choose from on the island.

Just horrible
For the following reasons: 1. When we arrived – the telephone in the room was out of order, the middle of the room shower was not working properly which caused the flood in the room, the lights in the living room and bathroom were not working, the refrigerator was leaking, the Internet was not available for the whole stay, the TV was not working properly. 2. After numerous complaints we were told that the only available rooms have the same issues and they all have showers in the middle of the room. When our friends arrived a couple of days later, they were given the room with a SEPARATE shower. So what we were told was not true at all. 3. We had complained on a daily basis but none of the complaints were addressed. The most painful for us was the fact that Internet was not available and we have lost business because of that. We could not contact home to check on our 90-year old parents as well, which was very stressful of both sides. 4. Instead of replacing non-working telephone, the repair man took the unit apart and left it in the room for the stay without returning to fix it …..

Where was the 4 star ?
Wasn't terrible but I can definitely say not good. The first day we didn't have hand towels or wash cloths in our room but they did bring them upon request, so no big deal. The girl at the front desk was new so I guess that can explain her lack of knowledge on where to go for dinner. The shower would leave water all over the floor. The safe in the room had to be reset everyday because it wouldn't open. Never had any wifi service the time we we there (5 days). We were told after finding no wifi service the first day, that their router had to be reset. The next day they said it was reset but guess what?....no service. We walked the whole resort and no service. The breakfast buffet was not much to choose. The only really great thing was that the Radisson was next door and they had what the Le Domaine did not. Radisson had a great breakfast buffet, and they were nice enough to give us access to their wifi.

Decent Hotel, Close to the beach.
I was very excited about my trip and staying at le domaine, until I got there :-(. The gate was locked and no one was on property. Luckily a kind man who was passing made some calls to someone he knew in the resort who opened the gate after a 30 minute wait it was opened. We were told the night staff left early as he was ill and there was no replacement. The resort is outdated badly needs upgrading. there was no mats for the floor next to the bed or in the bathroom. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable, it was also too low and the linens were stiff. The morning staff said they would look into giving an upgrade for the inconvenience of standing outside in the rain the night before but we were later told this was not possible but our breakfast for the stay would be complimentary but the restaurant did not offer much so we never ate there.

Not worth the money or the trouble
I had a horrible experience. The service at the front desk was not professional, our luggage did not arrive on the same flight as us so the airline decided to deliver our luggages to the front desk. The front desk some how managed to mix up our luggages and send it to a different room. We were without luggages for 2 days and there was nothing we could do. We constantly asked the front desk if they had any knowledge on the status of our luggages and they kept saying no, unprofessionally I might add. When we call the front desk at night, there would be no one there to pick up the phone. The water in the room turns from hot to cold every 10 minutes. So you don't get a constant stream of hot water. The hotel advertises free internet and there is, but it is cut off at night along with the water. For the two nights that I have stayed there the internet would legit be cut off after 10pm and the there would be absolutely no water coming out of the faucets after midnight. The beach is free for people who stay here and everyone else so not a lot of security. There is a hotel right next to us and people are free to roam in there as well and some has wandered into our beach area late at night. The breakfast is absolutely terrible. They charge you 15 EUROS per person for breakfast and they don't even serve eggs. Breakfast consists of some pastries such as croissants and cold slices of ham and cheese. They threw in some yogurt and pineapples and you could get crepes upon request.

Beautiful peaceful location in a picturesque cove. Hotel is undergoing renovations, which were not obtrusive or overly noisy. Unfortunately some things don't work - the wi-fi was intermittent; tv had no signal; gym is not well set up; however the beautiful location made up for it. On my first night I discovered that my room had a strong cigarette smell that wouldn't go away. It was disappointing that no change could be made until after lunch the next day, but when I finally switched rooms it became an enjoyable stay.

Cool, clean room near the beach and dive shop
Overall, I had a great experience. The first day, the maid tried to clean my room at 5pm. This was very aggravating. After a day of hiking and traveling, I had just gotten home and locked the door with the deadbolt. The maid came by to clean the room and tried to open the door, repeatedly. Even after I told her in French and in English that I was not ready and needed 10 minutes, she kept trying to open the door. But, to the credit of Le Domaine, I never had this problem again. My room was clean with a king size bed and my own walk out terrace. It was awesomely cool as well, so it was always refreshing to walk into my room after a day out in the sun! The shower is a bit strange, but not a deal breaker. If you are a diver, Le Domaine is 4 minutes by foot from Scuba Zen diving which was a nice dive experience. If you want to dive the French side of St Martin, I recommend to stay at Le Domaine, and dive with Scuba Zen.

This is a great Euro-style resort located in the secluded cove of Anse Marcel. As soon as you hit the beach, you get the sense that you are a castaway that has somehow been shipwrecked at a French resort. If you're adventurous, then I suggest renting a car to explore the ENTIRE island. Great place to get sunburned and drunk! And, even if you're like us -- already from a tropical location, you will still have great time and a feeling that you are far away. The contrast of mountains and beach is something I definitely do not get in at home in Miami, and I just loved staring at that contrast.
