Nice place.
Was everything we needed. We stayed 2 nights. It was close enough to stores yet far enough away. We had great views and 2 bull moose on our drive to the cabin. Perfect for what we wanted!

Beautiful views but not peaceful
The views were spectacular and the location was great, but noise from upstairs was disrupting and we had to carefully watch where we stepped because the dogs had not been cleaned up after. However, when we couldn’t find a wine bottle opener our host was able to procure one quickly.

Great, private property! Gary was very accommodating when our plans needed to change. Offered support and recommendations for nearby shopping and dining. Wildlife galore, which is what we love about Alaska! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, picturesque, spot to stay!

This place could not be more perfectly located. It’s south of Anchorage, in the mountains, but within 10-15 minutes of grocery store and restaurants. The owners made an apartment, overlooking the mountains. There’s a back deck with a table and a gas grill, two comfortable bedrooms with room darkening blind (it’s light 19 hours in summer). We enjoyed repeatedly, seeing moose, and one even walked into our backyard the morning that we were leaving. It was clean, and the hosts were very responsive and gracious. Judy’s Cafe is the best breakfast place you will ever find (cash only). The drive south to Whittier was incredible, and we kayaked in the most beautiful scenery you could imagine. We drove north to Palmer, for white water rafting, and ziplining. This was the perfect place to stay for the vacation of a lifetime.

Beautiful view and responsive owner
The view is spectacular and Gary was very friendly and responsive to our needs. We enjoyed our stay here. Most of the time we were there it was very peaceful and quiet. Could hear some noises from the owners upstairs on occasion - the TV and dog sounds (they recently had a new litter of puppies so that is not the norm) but overall very nice stay.

superb for a few nights
Our stay here was wonderful and exactly what we had hoped for. A bit of seclusion away from the main streets of Anchorage, the home gives you a fantastic view of the mountain and below - not to mention tons of moose along the roads as you drive in and out of the development. The home had everything we needed for a wonderful 3 nights. We hope to be back one day.

Anchorage area exploration before cruise
Property is located about 15-20 mins from ANC on mostly paved roads. The location & view are worth the final drive up the mountains to very scenic home & great homeowners (& their 2 dogs-has Daisy had her pups?💕). Easy drive to all surrounding towns & nice to be outside ANC, yet close enough if you want to shop, grab dinner, or get to airport 🤗

Beautiful Spot!
We visited Alaska for one week and rented the apartment for the entire time.. super easy check in after arriving quite late at night. The apartment was perfect for myself and my 17 year old nephew. It is well equipped with all you need for a comfortable stay. You can hear people upstairs at times but the hosts are incredibly conscientious… you cannot beat the view.. and the apartment feels like home.. thank you Gary

The Eagles Nest is about a 30-minute drive outside of Anchorage so guests need their own car to get there. All was fine and as advertised. Bonus was that the owners also breed dogs (kept very quiet at night). There were 7 adorable puppies romping around the yard while we were there -- very cute. The apartment itself is a bit cluttered and could use a bit more cleaning but was comfortable enough. Property owner seems very nice. I recommend the property.

The views are very nice. The road the last 1/2 mile was very rough.
Below are the good and bad but the early morning noises combined with both my husband and I hearing mouse (mice) in the wall are the two reasons we wouldn't stay again. The last 1/2 mile of road to the property is very rough. The property has a lot of old things on the above deck that leads to the steps. Lots of old things (atv, snowmobiles) laying around the yard. The noise from upstairs was rather loud at times -- the floors must be very thin. Could hear lots of walking around and shower noises early in the morning. On vacation and being woke up at 6 am is not what I planned on. The view was truly beautiful and it was conveniently close to town. The rate was reasonable for the area.

The view was beautiful and we were out of the city.
My daughter and I came to Alaska for her senior trip we moved around a little and this was our last stop. There are pros and cons with this property. I will leave as much as I can so others can make informed decisions. Cons: 1. The road to the property is steep and rough. We were in a small rental car and at times I wondered if we would make it up that last hill. 2. The property doesn’t really look like the pictures anymore. Granted, we did come early in May and there may have not been time for outside work. There are a couple of ATV/snowmobiles parked on the side of the house along with a lot of “stuff” stored under the stairs. Also the porch leading to “our” stairs down to the basement were crowded with old carpet and ladders. It made it a little narrow to carry our things. I am not sure how often VRBO requires updated pictures and info, but maybe it should. 3. Other than the entryway, kitchenette and bathroom, the apartment was all carpet. Not a huge deal.m, just thought I would mention that. 4. There really isn’t a good way to block out the sun at 11:00 pm. There are mini blinds on the windows but they really don’t block much light. 5. The noise from upstairs was rather loud at times. Granted we were “home” often throughout the day and maybe they are used to people leaving early and coming back late. We could hear the TV/radio as well as if we were in the room. Pros: 1. Gary was fantastic to communicate with and was very accommodating to our changing schedule. He made it happen when we needed to come a day early. 2. The view was truly beautiful from the basement living room windows. 3. It was clean! I was not concerned at all about whether anything was clean or not. However, it is dated. We did leave a few toiletries and food items behind. We bought some things upon our arrival and hated to throw them away. I would stay here again. Next time I would make sure I had a different vehicle.

Nice Location with a Good View
In the foothills overlooking Anchorage. Liked the location. Downstairs apartment with quite a few stairs so not good for anyone with problems walking or toting heavy suitcases. Some upstairs noise. Living room and kitchen quite small but we made do as we were gone most of the time. More suited to a couple than three though and not really set up for cooking meals. Two nice size bedrooms. Full size bathroom but could use some updating. Lovely porch with view of city. Nice quiet neighborhood.
