Beautiful house with swimming pool, in Little Tuscany between Albi and Toulouse

The Domaine de Bertalay is a beautiful residence of character, located in a quiet environment, with terrace, garden and swimming pool. Labeled Gites de France 4 épis, it is located near the town of Lavaur, 30 minutes from Albi (classified as a UNESCO national heritage site) and 40 minutes from Toulouse (the Pink City), in the Tarn. This region, called French Tuscany or Little Tuscany, has many charms for those looking for both tranquility and conviviality. Its advantages ? Countless walks to take in the countryside, the most beautiful towns of Occitania less than an hour away, sunny days and an important cultural heritage (museums, concerts, shows, etc.).

The Domaine de Bertalay is a warm and hospitable family home. A former silkworm farm (silkworm breeding) from the 18th century, it is decorated and furnished in a spirit of authenticity: terracotta and parquet floors, sandstone walls and exposed red bricks, period furniture... beautiful emerald green swimming pool, with shaded surroundings, allows pleasant swimming at any time of the day or night. A terrace with an Italian-style balcony overlooks the plain, ideal for lunch in the shade and lit to extend summer evenings under the stars. Finally, the 5000 m2 garden, its fruit trees and its many nooks and crannies furnished with tables, chairs and sun loungers, ensures your peace and quiet and constitutes an excellent playground for children.
The house being old and its thick walls, it benefits from a particularly pleasant natural freshness on the hottest days.


Inside, two large central corridors distribute the rooms of the house on two levels.
On the ground floor :
- a living room of 60 m2 with: a large open kitchen equipped with a 7-burner cooking range, two ovens and 1 grill, a wood-burning oven and all the utensils that cooking enthusiasts could dream of (including including a culinary library of nearly 200 books) as well as a dining room and its convivial 2m20 table;
- an intimate living room with a grand piano, a large connected television and numerous films at your disposal;
- the Andalusian Room, with its bathroom, walk-in shower and independent exit to the garden.
Upstairs :
- the Modiste's Room, 30 m2, with its private bathroom;
- the Portrait Room, facing south, with a double bed, a single bed and a connecting bathroom;
- the Bird Room, also facing south, with its private bathroom;
- the Butterfly Room, smaller, with connecting bathroom;
- a large library for children and adults.

Our guests have access to the entire accommodation, the private swimming pool and the garden. They are at home throughout the rental period. The musicians of course have access to the piano and the sheet music library (around 300 to 400 scores). We love animals, so your pet is welcome!

Domaine de Bertalay is located in a very quiet hamlet, 3 km from Lavaur and all amenities. The Bertalay Bakery (100 m) will delight gourmets with its varied breads, pastries and pastries baked in a wood-fired oven. Ideally located in the Tarn Pays de Cocagne, discover the historic Pastel industry, one of the oldest vineyards in France (the Gaillacois), the Bastides of Tarn (Puycelsi, Castelnau de Montmiral, Cordes sur Ciel), the forest massifs (Sivens Forest, Grésigne Forest) and the Montagne Noire.
Further afield, breathe the sea air of the Mediterranean in Sète, stroll in the Pyrenees 150 km away and visit the City of Carcassonne, a very beautiful medieval city 1h30 away by car. Let yourself be seduced by the great variety of landscapes in the South!

We carry out creation and transmission professions in the field of music and cinema. Our three children are musicians between San Sebastian, Toulouse and New York. This house is our main residence and we like to share the serenity and pleasure we have in living there all year round.
