After traveling all over Sri Lanka for about two weeks, it was a treat to rest at JUCE for several nights before heading back home. I was welcomed by Tuan (the manager) who was friendly and professional in providing all the information I needed to know about the hotel, the area, and other essentials. When I walked into the hotel, I was so delighted to see how clean the hotel was, the beautiful pool, and of course the beach! I immediately asked to see if I could upgrade my room for beach view for an additional charge, and luckily I got one without paying too much. This property used to be called "Dream Beach" and was just taken over by the JUCE management, who overturned this place into a nice little boutique hotel. I was really lucky to have found this place because I searched for beach hotels in the south but the good ones were full due to the holidays, and JUCE just opened a few weeks ago. It is in Ambalangoda and is located 20 minutes (by tuk tuk) from Hikkaduwa. It is also the home of wooden carved masks, and you can find the museum as well as other mask making places. The cleaning staff really cleans the rooms well each day (I am a clean freak) and each day I enjoyed lying by the pool, going to the beach (it's not crowded at all and quiet, unlike Hikkaduwa), and eating at their restaurant. Be sure to try out their Pasta Ortalana. I would definitely stay at this place again if I go back to Sri Lanka.
