Not even sure if this will be published, but here goes...
Let me start by saying this is a lovely, clean, spacious property in a very nice, quiet neighborhood. Host was nice and accommodating.
All that aside.... I booked another property weeks in advance for our family to come for my niece's birthday party. Home was canceled last minute due to a conflict with multiple booking sites?? Not sure how this happens.
In my haste to find another booking, I found a home that accommodated the number I needed, but inadvertently did not change the number of guests when I booked. Due to the fact I stated I was booking a house for eight people for only one, I violated the policy. I get that. But since the owner did not think they could contact me outside the vrbo site and the fact that I do not have real time alerts turned on for vrbo app, our booking was canceled and the property was locked down with our belongings (and even my vehicle) inside. All it would have taken is a text message, email or call for me to realize my mistake and to pay any additional fees necessary. Which I was HAPPY to do. It was an oversight, and a mistake I had never made before.
I must give credit to the owner for speaking to me in person and resolving the situation. He explained that the cancelation was as a result of his trying to resolve things through the proper channels and not his desire to makes us feel like criminals.
This will definitely make me look elsewhere (not this site) for bookings.
