If you want peace and quiet, this is the spot for you. Almost 360 degrees of amazing views, not another light visible at night for at least ten miles, just you and the desert.
Advice to anyone staying here; buy groceries in Alpine before heading here, bring your own entertainment, and be accustomed to what an RV/Camper is like. Yes, it can smell like sewage there in the morning and at night. However, you are in the middle of the desert and running water is a scarce commodity. Most places use a catchment system or composting for waste. It’s just how it is and will be. The RV is clean though and the smell is mostly noticeable outside. Also, the description of the TV and DVD player is still accurate two years later, which is a disappointment. The DVDs are scratched, the player is so old I’m not sure if it really works. So bring an HDMI cable and you can connect your laptop to the TV. To be honest, I’m kind of glad it didn’t work because we spent even more time admiring the beauty of Big Bend and having great conversation. The Wi-Fi is surprisingly great, seriously an A+ rating for that.
Also, for anyone complaining about driving to “anything to do in Big Bend”…that’s true no matter where you stay in Terlingua. It’s true no matter where you want to go anywhere out there. You are going to spend a lot of time driving anywhere. Chill out, enjoy the view while you drive.
I’d probably give this 4.5 stars as a true score. We would 100% stay again, even if the DVD player still doesn’t work. You honestly don’t need it.
