We absolutely loved this little cabin. Great location. Had a visit from an elk and turkey! Hoping to book in mid September if it becomes available again!
We loved the cabin, the quiet environment, and the location! There was difficulty with getting into the cabin because we were not told where the lockbox was, but overall experience with the cabin was awesome! Just make sure you know how to get into the property!
We absolutely loved staying at this property and everything was just as described. Our host was fantastic with great communication and the location is perfect for visiting the national park. This historic cabin doesn't disappoint! It's very easy to spend the day in Rocky Mountain National Park and still do evening activities in Estes Park. Thank you for everything!
After we came out of RMNP for the day it still felt like we were in the woods. It was so relaxing and quiet. Sitting outside for coffee in the a.m. and happy hour in the evening was very relaxing. Loved the history of this cabin. Plenty of amenities to cook if needed etc.
Perfect location to Rocky Mountain National Park, lovely history on the cabin, wildlife right outside the doors, and beautiful views and sounds of babbling river in front of the cabin. Can't wait to come back!!
This is a great place to unplug and relax. My wife and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch in the morning, drinking coffee, listening to the nearby river and watching elk walk through the property.
Upon arriving, it was discovered that housekeeping had not been there. We made a quick call and left a message for Abbey, who called me back and got cleaners there while we went to eat. By the time we got back it was clean. Location is beautiful, but it is closer to other properties than we were expecting. It would be nice if a spot is cleared out for more outside seating and maybe a gas fire pit at night, because it’s beautiful. Very rustic and charming.
Enjoyed the location the best as only one mile from the Rocky Park north entrance on Fall River Rd. Beautiful, spacious log cabin located on a semi-private road on the mountain side. Saw many wild elk, wild turkeys, and birds every day right around the cabin so that was wonderful.
The cabin had a full kitchen with all utensils & most cooking spices, 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room, fireplace, front sitting room, and single bath.
The living room seem to have too much furniture so it seemed crowded. Bathroom and bath linens needs full upgrade as water backed up so had to stand in water...
Yes, we enjoyed the stay at Voiland!
The property was just what I wished for during the trip to Estes Park with my grandson. He is leaving for college in the fall and we wanted one last Colorado trip together. The cabin was in a perfect spot - close to Estes Park and RMNP, as well as old friends outside of Lyons. We had peace and quiet after busy days. The bull elk, three in total, came by the cabin twice during our stay. It was a wonderful trip. I hope to bring my husband out the next trip. Thank you!
You ask "did you enjoy your stay?" Not entirely. All problems were related to transportation and communication failures and certainly not because of wrangler's cabin.
What I liked was the idea of staying in a 100 year old cabin once used by horse wranglers. I was really cool. The cabin is primitive, clean and comfortable. Not close to any commercial activity and far enough from roads and neighbors to be quiet and private. The Fall River is in front of the property and is easily seen and heard. Everything worked properly and was well maintained. After a rough trip, it was a welcoming comfort to sit on the porch and watch wildlife and mountain views.
The location and cabin were great! However, we were given less than one roll of toilet paper for four people. After checking in, we had to go out again to purchase toilet paper after a 10 hour drive. The pillows were stained, sheets were dingy, dishes had dried food, there were many clumps of lint and dust around the kitchen and bathroom. There is also an enormous amount of chairs in the house. While it’s nice to have options, it was cluttered and a bit tight moving about the house. The bedrooms are a bit small as well. We really loved the history of the cabin and the porches and property were nice to relax. It was very quiet and peaceful.
The seclusion and proximity to the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mtn National Park was very enjoyable. We managed to view elk and deer from the living room window and we saw a herd of deer passing through the rear of the house on the last night.
There are a good amount of resources in the home to help out with the stay, especially in the kitchen (foil, storage bags, spices, etc.). Note that the grocery store charges for bags, but there are plenty in the home that you can take with you.
The beds are comfortable. The shower pressure is good, the water is warm, and the water drains well.
There is a record player and vinyl records that were a joy to listen to.
I did have some struggles. One was with accessing and securing the home. The kitchen door has a twist lock handle which I hadn't seen in a while and I actually completely forgot they existed. The porch screen near the kitchen and the front is secured with a small padlock that can only be locked from the outside. I couldn't figure out how to open the front door padlock so we only had one way in and out of the home.
Also there was an unexplainable fly infestation that resulted in me killing about 15-20 flies during the trip. Flies would appear in the house and I had no idea how they were getting in. Thankfully they were slow and easy to swat.
