Wonderful stay!
We loved our long weekend at the lake camp! It was the perfect home base for a few people in our group who were doing the MS Ride in Biddeford. We swam in the lake, went kayaking, sat around the firepit, and enjoyed the views from the lovely wall of windows. The owners could not be nicer, and even gave us fresh eggs from their chickens! We would recommend this lake camp to others. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely spot to recharge
Michelle's property is beautiful and a great place to unwind -location close to other attractions can't be beat as well. The view of the pond from the cabin, the porch and dock are all excellent and so peaceful. Michelle and her husband are both warm, welcoming genuine people - and meeting them both (and their dog Sonny) added to the positive vibes of our weekend. Thank you!

Beautiful lake
My family two boys and my wife as well as myself loved the lake along with the cottage and convenience of location. Would definitely recommend for a family getaway. It’s close to Old Orchard Beach and other locations as well. Michelle and Sunny were awesome they were right behind us so if we had any issues we could call or text, but they are also not overbearing at all so you get your peace and relaxation as well, as well as playing ball with Sunny, he’s awesome. Will definitely be back again

All We Had Hope for Maine!
We are a family of 5. Two adults, with kids 20, 17 and 13. All loved this stay. Our hope was for a relaxing cabin stay on a picturesque lake in Maine. We found exactly that and more! The cabin and views are beautifully rustic and felt like home right away. Be sure to schedule 4 or more days so you have time so soak in the cabin, lake, swimming, fishing, hammock and campfire. It’s all working a short drive of great restaurants and shops. Penelope and Pete were gracious and helpful hosts. You can rent from them with confidence. We fully recommend.

Relaxing Experience
This was a very fun, relaxing and enjoyable cabin in a wonderful location. The pond is just perfect for swimming and kayaking. If you want a quiet getaway that is moderately close to great restaurants and shopping this is the place. Michelle and Dean, the owners are wonderful, as well as their dog Sonny. They have all you should need in the cabin, As far as supplies. Bring bottled water, filtered pond water is good for cleaning and cooking but not recommended to drink. Also no washer or dryer, and no air conditioner. Though we were there the second week of July and never really needed the air. Lots of wood supplied for the fire pit.

Quaint Maine Getaway
Quaint cabin on a beautiful little lake just west of Saco and Biddeford. If you're looking for a long weekend getaway to swim, fish (appeared to be some bass and trout), paddle and relax, it's the perfect spot. And rates are very affordable compared to other beach and lake options. It sleeps four comfortably and can accommodate more, but there's only one bathroom which is off the living area and fairly exposed (walls do not go to the ceiling so you hear things). Re: Cleanliness...the cabin living and eating areas were very clean (no issue there), there's just a lot of clutter in cabinets and drawers that could stand to be thrown away and stored elsewhere. It made it difficult to find a few essentials like matches. Also, bed linens provided, but you need to make up the bed.

Relax with Nature
We had a wonderful week relaxing with nature. The cabin was so rustic and cute and was clean from top to bottom. We had a peaceful week swimming and kayaking on the pond, and enjoyed hearing the loon and seeing the hummingbirds. If you are looking for action and excitement with all the bells and whistles, this is not the place for you! The cabin's setting is peaceful and relaxing. Although there are other cabins close by, we never heard any noise from them. My granddaughter loved talking to the chickens and looking for eggs in the mornings. My grandsons loved diving off the dock and swimming in the pond. The cabin was well stocked with every kitchen convenience and the host provided toiletries in case you forgot to bring them. The hosts were available, responsive and thoughtful. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a peaceful, relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Karin and Dan

Outdoors was amazing. Indoor not so much.
The outdoors and view was amazing. But the cottage had a bad mice infestation. The first day we arrived. There was a mouse in the room and emails trap. So the owners knew that there were mice because there was a mouse trap. Throughout this day, more mice were in the home, climbing up and down the walls and running around the house nonchalantly. the bathroom smelt like a urinal and the water just kept running nonstop. The cottage was not as clean as it should have been before we arrived, and they were crumbs upon our revival on the counter. Not to mention it was extremely hot with no air circulation and no AC. We had to leave a day early because the mice infestation was so bad.

Highly disappointed
I would classify this as a basic hunting cabin that would be fine for men using it only to sleep. I was highly disappointed with the unfinished walls and ceilings, bed frame of twin bed in front room creaked horribly when you laid on it, and shower curtain didn't keep the water in the shower so we had to lay a towel on the floor so it won't ruin the wood. The lake view was nice, the fire pit was nice, and the quiet location was nice. I have the same concern another review had that there is no way this place would pass inspection for living standards or being a rental. The communication with the owners was easy and they were quick to respond. I wasn't happy that I had to supply all water for drinking except for the 6 bottles in fridge. For the prices you pay to stay at VRBOs, I don't expect to have to supply my own water. I was sick when I first walked in and saw the place. If it wasn't June in Maine and hard to find other places, I would have changed locations. It is tolerable but it wasn't enjoyable.

Perfect Getaway
We just loved this camp, directly on Barkers Pond. For us, the direct lake access, with available kayaks was the draw but since our first day was rainy, we really appreciated this updated cabin, it was so comfortable staying in for a day. Thankfully, the weather was perfect for the next couple days of our long weekend getaway..Highly recommended!

Most fabulous vacation!
Our family of 5 (parents, 2 teens and a tween) made the trip from Texas to Boston, then drove up to this gorgeous cabin on Barkers Pond. It was the most magical, lovely setting and a perfect getaway/ending to our vacation. The cabin was perfectly suited for our family, and had all the amenities we needed for fishing/grilling/cooking/swimming. The kids and adults all spent hours on kayaks and fishing by on the gorgeous pond, and the water was perfectly clear and comfortable (July). We loved being so close to several towns which made it easy to day trip out and be back in time for some swimming/sunset views. ** This turned out to also be perfect because we all decided we are lake vs beach people…we were able to go to several nearby beaches but not have to commit to staying constantly sandy etc ** The owners, who live next door/on site could not have been more friendly or easy to work with! It felt like we had friends nearby, but at the same time we had all of the privacy and space that we could want or need. 10/10, we all agreed that this was our favorite vacation and we can be wait to come back. So thankful we found this amazing place!!

Quintessential Maine camp on a gorgeous pond!
This is a really charming rustic camp with great amenities. And it's on a pristine small pond with no motor boats! We got to enjoy the resident loons, a kingfisher and osprey fishing on the pond while we were there. The property is an old camp, which was exactly what we wanted, and the owners have ensured it has all the amenities: a fully stocked kitchen, a huge TV with multiple streaming services (not used by us, but welcomed by many), fire pit, kayaks and a canoe, and even binoculars to keep an eye on the local wildlife. You feel like you're deep in the woods even though you're 20 minutes from some of the best seafood and beaches on the coast.

Perfect Getaway
Our family of four could not have loved this cabin or pond more! We had plenty of living space, and everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable was already in the cabin. The swimming dock and kayaks kept us busy- and we ended up spending much more time at the cabin that we originally planned. All four of us are looking forward to returning next summer!

Heaven on Earth
We stayed here the second week of July 2022. Pictures do not do this quaint slice of heaven justice. While there are other homes close by, the cabin is tucked in with landscaping. We didn’t hear a peep the entire time, nor did we see anyone. It felt like our own secluded place. Coffee in the morning on the deck, fishing, kayaking, and swimming galore! Resident loon was lovely as well. Everything was clean, and having a starter case of water was a great touch. There is a Hannaford nearby where we purchased our food for the week. The decor inside the cabin was wonderful; rustic fish and Maine themed knick knacks, books, games, comfy blankets and pillows, as well as an equipped kitchen. I loved drinking my coffee from the large loon mug each morning! Everything was as described in the listing. The firepit outside is beautiful. At night there are also little white lights in the trees that create a calming ambience. We had a fire twice and made ‘smores. While the wooden benches and chairs by the fire are aesthetically pleasing, they are not very comfortable; I would suggest bringing camp chairs. There are not Adirondack chairs as pictured in the listing to move from the deck to the firepit area. There are two trash barrels outside for recyclables and regular trash. You don’t have to worry about taking it with you! The only negative I would mention (and was also mentioned in another review) is that the mattress in the master bedroom needs to be replaced. The topper helped a little, but for two people, the mattress was very uncomfortable. Luckily vacation lends itself to naps on the large hammock! We would definitely stay again. It was refreshing to not pack as if I were going camping; everything here is provided for you! I frequently look back on the pictures of our stay and the relaxing time we spent on Barker Pond.

A Lovely Cottage and a clean, quiet pond
My sister and I enjoyed our week at this rustic cottage, so much so we never left during the whole week! Beautiful views from the cottage windows, an upper deck and a lower deck, as well as the float at the water's edge. Lots of birds to watch (hummingbird, green heron, blue heron, hawk, etc.). The firepit was very nice and convenient, lots of wood provided by the hosts. The kitchen was adequate and we slept well every night. Too lovely there to bother with the TV, we never even turned the TV on! We are grateful to our wonderful hosts, Penelope and Peter, for providing such a lovely place for us to stay for a week. We will definitely be back!
