Gorgeous spacious family-friendly country villa, huge pool, stunning views

Villa in Alcaucin, Costa del Sol, Spain - Peace, quiet and comfort, near to the white puebo village Of Alcaucin. You'll never want to leave!

This is the real Spain! In the heart of the little-known Axarquia in a stunning location with wonderful views of the mountains and the beautiful Vinuela Valley far below, Casa Louisa is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Facing south it has sun from around breakfast time until sunset with the unspoilt natural beauty of the Sierras all around. Have a look on our own website for more pictures. Although it looks and feels like a traditional Spanish house, it is newly built with all the comforts of the 21st century. There's a large private pool with pool house, a delightful covered terrace with large marble tables for dining, sun-trap balcony and several other terraces with sofas and chairs to sit in comfort. Set amongst the olive groves, peace, tranquility, hot sun by the pool, the shade of an olive old tree, birdsong, the vivid colours of mediterranian flowers, the sound of the goat bells as Pepe shepherds his flock home at the end of the day, incredible skies as the sun leaves the valley ... this and more is what you will find.

Have a good look on Google Maps ... and other independent review sites or our own website ... to see how our guests have found their stay.

GP Co-ordinates:

Notes on accommodation:

Casa Louisa is on two levels and, as the pool is slightly below the villa with pool house and large terraces, the whole feeling is one of spaciousness with plenty of room for everyone to do just what they want .. joining in the fun around the pool or reading quietly in the shade away from it all. Our guests tell us the villa is very suitable for young families with lockable gates between the house and pool, safe play area outside for tinies. There is one complete set of baby equipment in the house and extra stuff for another baby is very easy to organise. Wifi access in most rooms and terraces close to the house. Air conditioning (note extra charge) and fans in every room. Beds are all comfortable (vital!) with blankets or duvets if needed. The house is prepared to a high standard with many of those basic necessities! Outside: Large private pool (10 by 5 metres), large pool house with outdoor kitchen and bar (only a step away to those cold drinks!) all surrounded by large terraces giving the property a feeling of spaciousness. (Meaning, however, children need to be supervised at all times when in the pool). Gates with bolts between the house and the pool on top and bottom terraces for the safety of small children (making a safe play area for tinies just outside the living area). 8 full-size sun beds and plenty of movable comfortable chairs for sunbaking or reading in the shade. Sun-trap balcony outside the living room with comfortable sofa and chairs. Covered area with comfortable sofa and chairs leading from 2nd sitting room downstairs. Two large marble tables on the top terrace perfect for outside dining and breakfast in shade or sun. Plenty of chairs. Gas bbq (gas supplied) just outside the kitchen. Outside wood oven for use in spring, autumn and winter. Extra umbrellas for shade. TABLE TENNIS table. Utility Room: Washing machine, second sink, creel, iron, clothers airers and ironing board (sometimes to be found under the stairs!) Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: Villa serviced before and after your stay; all linen including bath and pool towels provided. Pool cleaned twice a week, regular gardening. Other: The second living room downstairs has sofa and chairs, flat screen TV for DVDs, games in the cupboards, plenty of books and toys on the shelves and two full size single beds. Air-conditoning unit. Glass doors to a terrace. Children love this room!

Coast/Beach:

The nearest beaches are at Torre del Mar, Caleta or El Morches (about 20-25 minutes drive) ... large very Spanish busy seaside resorts; huge, long, safe, sandy beaches with a long promenades and plenty of beach bars. Burriana beach (in Nerja and with all the up-market trappings ... sunbeds, icecream parlours and so forth) is about 40 minutes and worth a trip for a visit to this pretty lilttle pueblo town and paella on the beach alone! Sand on this coast is clean and stone-coloured.

Travel:

Car essential. Malaga airport is about and hour's easy drive from Alcaucin (64 kilometres) first along the coastal motorway and then inland for 20 minutes on a good road.

Our local, very Spanish village of Alcaucin is 20-25 minutes walk, mostly flat or about 5 minutes drive; Puente don Manuel in the valley below with all the shops for your every day needs is 6 kilometres away. The coast where you will find all the large supermarkets, shops, water park, local markets and beaches is 20 to 25 minutes drive depending on the traffic. Allow around 3/4 hour to the pretty pueblo town of Nerja; about one and a half hours to Granada if you want to visit the Alhambra.

Further Details:

Although its hard to drag yourself away from the tranquility and comfort of Casa Louisa if you want some action there is plenty to be had. You can just pop into Alcaucin or down Puente don Manuel for all your everyday shopping needs and choose from several local restaurants offering freshly cooked food at reasonable prices if thats as far as you want to go. The national park with its cool pine forests and stunning vistas just above the house and the mountains on the doorstep and all around call out to be explored and walking or mountain-biking there is a real joy. But if you want to go further afield ,the full-on experience of the coast is only a short drive away. Traditional markets, local shops with traditional Spanish wares superb fish restaurants, large supermakets and shops for the shopaholics and the family-fun water park (open in summer) are all within easy reach. Towns such as Antequera, the impressive national park of El Torcal with the amazing limestone 'moonscape', the famous small pueblo villages of Andalucia, the pretty bustling town of Nerja, the ancient caves in Moro with all the stalegmites and stalagmites and stalactites you would expect, the unmissable Alhambra in Granada, the facinating little city of Cordoba, hot springs in the ancient town of Alhama de Granada, the salt lakes of Fuente de la Piedra with thousands of breeding flamingos in Spring make for excellent days out. In the villa you will find guide books and pull-out directions for you to take with you if you feel like setting out somewhere. Short as well as longer self-guided walk sheets will take you up into the park and mountains without fear of getting lost ... although we have local guides who would be delighted to take you walking or a day out mountain-biking so that you get the best of a day in this stunning area. River-walking is a great thing to do in the summer! The area is fantastic for cycling on the quiet mountain roads amid the wonderful scenery and we can arrange bike hire for you locally.

Fantastic place for a family holiday
We had a really great time at the villa-2adults & 4 kids aged between 10 and 15. It was ideal for all of us, the pool area was lovely, and had great views over the valley and we particularly enjoyed the lovely little cosy areas on the balconies and under the olive tree to sit in the shade looking at the views.

Beautiful villa with amazing hosts. Highly recommend!
Casa Louisa is simply stunning and one of the best holiday rentals I have ever stayed in. We had the pleasure of staying in Casa Louisa in May 2023 after a very high-quality refurbishment. The kitchen is brand new and well-equipped, and all of the ensuite bathrooms have large walk-in showers. The mountain views are breathtaking, the photos don't do it justice! And the beds are super comfortable. The only downside is that if you're staying with young children (i.e. toddlers that require a bath rather than a shower...) there is no bath after the recent renovation, despite the description stating there is one. I contacted the owner and they very kindly provided a baby bath for my 1-year-old daughter, literally within hours of asking, so you can't fault the owners for their amazing response times! Also, one of the balconies overlooking the pool has a low wall with a long drop on the other side, which my 1-year-old daughter could easily climb up on. This meant that we had to closely supervise her at all times on the decking. We were unlucky with the weather, so unfortunately, we couldn't use the pool because it's unheated and too cold for young children to use. It's also very deep. Despite these minor things, the owners provided a cot, highchair, changing mat, and toys, and there was a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs inside the house. If you're staying at the villa with older children or adults, none of these minor issues will affect you. Overall, I highly recommend!!

Stunning Villa
We really had a wonderful holiday at Casa Villa Louisa. From the start the communication was 100%, and nothing was a trouble for Elke and Bas, they were a lovely host. The Villa was gorgeous situated in a lovely quiet Spanish Village called Alcaucin. It was really a worth a trip and the locals were lovely and we tried our best to speak our broken Spanish which I think they appreciated our effort ha ha. The villa has spectacular views over the mountains and the sun hits the pool area early in the morning till the sun set. It was truly a beautiful setting. The villa itself is very spacious and accommodated 10 of us very well. We never felt we were top of each other. It was wondeful to sit at the balcony in the mornings and enjoy our breakfast. Whole villa was very well equipped and maintained. Pool was clean and huge and we loved the bar area too. Bas and Elke had left us couple of fabulous surprises as well. We could not fault anything about the villa and the area. We 100% recommend Villa Casa Louisa to anyone who loves a little luxury in the middle of tranquil surrounds and peaceful area. We already miss this place and hoping to return sometimes. We were made to feel very welcome. Thank you Elke and Bas. You honestly made our holiday unforgettable x

Gorgeous house in a breathtaking location
We were so excited to be staying at Casa Louisa for our first family holiday in Spain and were thrilled with the house and setting. We arrived at night and woke up to the most incredible view and to be honest we were still blown away by it at the end of our week's stay. The house is exactly as described and the outside spaces are particularly special - several places to sit, eat, socialise, and just relax, all with that wonderful view. The pool was also a huge treat and one that we all enjoyed. Bas and Elke have clearly given a lot of thought to what guests will need for a great holiday and we had everything that we could have wished for both inside and outside the house. Any questions we had were quickly answered and we honestly had one of our best family holidays ever. We would highly recommend staying at Casa Louisa - it really does not disappoint. We'd love to return!

Fantastic Family Holiday
My Family spent an amazing two weeks at Casa Louisa; everything that we had hoped for came true. The villa is truly like 'home from home'; it is equipped with everything you may need which is extremely rare for a holiday villa. The pool is large, well cared for and with the amazing view, idyllic. If you want a rural destination but not be far from shops, beaches etc this is the place for you. There is so much space so if you are a large party there is always a quiet area for everyone. The children and adults are very well catered for with pool toys, indoor games and many books to choose from. The mountains are on your doorstep so if sitting by the pool is not for you the quietness and solitude of the hills is not far away. Bayan is at the end of the phone to answer any queries and made us feel totally at ease. Everything about the Villa is excellent so thank you Jill for sharing your much loved home. A very happy Tratt Family.

Couldn't have been better...
We had a wonderful week at Casa Louisa. Everything ran smoothly right from the initial booking with excellent communications and advance material from Jill, through to the arrival and being met and escorted to the villa by Bayan. The villa is something special, in a beautiful setting with spectacular views across the countryside. Designed for relaxing, there are sofas and chairs inside and out and a lovely pool area. What more can be said? We couldn't fault it.

Simply Wonderful!
We were a group of 13, 4 families, a mixture of adults and teenagers. Where can I start? Let's start with Bayan and Mat? They were our first point of contact and they were just incredible. Met us in the outskirt of Alcaucin as agreed, led us to Casa Louisa and walked us through this beautiful villa. We loved it from the first sight. The position of the villa, swimming pool, outdoor pizza oven, the terrace, and the view were just amazing. The interior and exterior of this villa are just beautifully put together, aesthetically pleasing, yet practical on every level; from needle to walking sticks, exercise mats, plenty of pots and pans...you name it, everything was at our disposal. We made the most of it, eating breakfast and dinner outside on the terrace enjoying the magnificent view which made it difficult to part from it. The villa is in a good position for sightseeing nearby towns, like Granada and Alhambra, Cordoba, the coast, or just simply choose to go for a walk through olive, orange, lemon, avocado, and almond trees taking in all the pleasant aromas and tranquility of the surrounding. It has good accessible walking paths as it lies just near the Natural Park. There are plenty of leaflets in the villa to help you out. All in all, we had a fabulous time in Casa Louisa and hope to return soon to this beautiful place. Jill, thank you very much for sharing your beautiful villa with us.

Well equipped villa
This is a very well equipped villa, with everything you would need for a great stay. The surroundings are beautiful. Lots of plates, glasses, pool side plastic dishes provided - which is really good. The villa has lots of books and games for everyone and there is plenty of fridge space, although freezer space is more limited. There were essentials such as toilet paper, dishwasher tablets and washing power provided in the villa, which is a bonus. The information provided about the villa, both before and during our stay was very informative. Our stay was spoilt by the villa being broken into on the Sunday night in the middle of our stay, due to a shutter breaking on the previous Friday. All the doors were locked however, but I guess security could be a risk anywhere you stay. The repair was carried out in response on the afternoon on the day of the break in. Jill, the property owner, was very apologetic about our experience on our return but it did mean that we were anxious for the remainder of our stay and had to watch our spending due to having less cash for the second week of our holiday. It’s a lovely villa, but our experience was marred by this.

Ticked all the boxes
We had the most amazing time at Casa Louisa. From first contact to departure Jill made everything so easy and straight forward. June and Steve were there to meet us and guide us to the property. They explained everything and gave us a guided tour of the house. Casa Louisa was a home from home and everything clearly marked and explained. The villa was so big it meant that we had so much space. There were 3 adults and 4 children, the children loved the swimming pool and table tennis... we had the best time and I would definitely recommend casa Louisa and we are looking forward to going back...

Wonderful house - great for a family vacation!
We enjoyed our stay at casa louisa very much. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. During the day we lounged at the pool while enjoying the view over the valley and in the evening we used the barbecue and had dinner at the terrace. We went for walks in the area, had dinner at the local restaurant and drove to the beach a couple of times. A beautiful, serene getaway that is well-equipped for both children and adults!

Lovely villa with beautiful views!!!!
We stayed at Casa Louisa for 2 weeks in August. There were 7 of us, ages ranging from 72 to 7!!! There was plenty of room for all of us. It was nice that my mum and brother could use the bedrooms downstairs so they could get away and have a bit of peace and quiet!! The villa was very well equipped and had everything we needed, which was great. It was very well maintained and spotlessly clean! The position of the villa is idyllic. Such lovely views and very peaceful! The pool was a huge hit with the kids and adults and it was a great spot to lie around on the sun beds! We enjoyed quite a few evenings sat around the pool bar and on the terrace playing blackjack, hoopla and Jenga, which was great for the kids. The coast is very accessible from the villa and we visited Torre del Mar, Torrox Costa and Nerja. We also visited the lovely Frigiliana which is one of our favourite places! We enjoyed a couple of meals in the village and visited restaurants in the surrounding area. We had a lovely time at Casa Louisa and it was the best villa we have stayed in! The owner, Jill, was a pleasure to deal with and was very helpful and informative.
