Welcome to our home in the Lot with its two pretty pigeonnier roofs and red gold sunsets. There is Wifi and parking and we are 10 minutes from Prayssac, half an hour from Cahors and an hour and a half from Toulouse Blagnac airport.
You will be surrounded by Malbec vineyards with cycling, walking trails, kayaking and horse riding nearby. You will have exclusive use of all the outside spaces and swimming pool.
Maison Carcavi is a spacious comfortable house with vineyard views from every room, nestled in a courtyard and surrounded by its own grounds - a fruit orchard and a shaded pool area.
The house was built in 1867 and has been renovated sympathetically to a high standard. The ground floor has a large open plan living area with a grand walk-in fireplace surrounded by three comfy sofas. The living area includes a large dining table and leads down to a sunken kitchen with a stunning picture window, which looks out onto a private garden surrounded by tall hedges.
Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom with a vintage chandelier and large en suite bathroom with good sized shower. Two further bedrooms share a family bathroom, both rooms have two single beds each which can be made into 180cm wide doubles if required.
The charming walled courtyard wraps around the south side of property, its flower beds and an enchanting BBQ dining area. Beyond the courtyard, the grounds include meadows and a fruit orchard on one side and gardens with a tree shaded pool (5x11m) with roman steps, a solar shower and security alarm on the other.
You are welcome to enjoy the fruit from the orchard and the delicious figs in the courtyard. The two of us live discretely in the house next door and have our own entrance and garden away from the gite, which is effectively a private wing. We are on hand if needed for any recommendations or local knowledge and look forward to welcoming you.
THE LOCAL AREA
The area is famous for its Malbec wine, walnut orchards and the river Lot valley. The scenery is gentle - easy to explore on foot, bicycle, kayak or horse-back. The colours are soft - greens, golds and reds. There are walking trails everywhere, cycling and kayak/canoeing is popular, as is horse riding. There are well sign-posted cycling routes throughout the area, many kayak/canoe rental stations and guided horse back treks - all nearby. Splashing about on the river is great fun and you get to explore at the same time!
You are surrounded by an abundance of vineyards, wine tastings and wine tours are a fabulous way to discover the area. We can arrange visits to local vineyard Domains and/or an 'at home' wine tasting for you on request by one of our local experts, it's a fun way to spend a few hours while learning about local wines and food pairings.
The local markets at Prayssac, Montcuq and Cahors are vibrant and colourful showcases and offer a superb range of local produce, the area is well known for its gastronomy. There are an abundance of picturesque cafes and restaurants throughout the Lot and you are even within a 30 minute drive of several Michelin starred restaurants.
There are many beautiful villages, hilltop bastides and old buildings to see close by such as Belaye, Luzech, Puy l'Eveque, Lauzerte, Tournon d"Agenais and Penne d"Agenais . The region is proud to present these beautiful and historic places for you to discover: Carennac, Loubressac, Autoire, St Cirq Lapopie, Cardaillac, Saint-Céré and Rocamadour
