"Overall I’m very pleased. While being centrally downtown, there is easy access to banks, museums, parks and a wide choice of food! Alajuela itself was merely a jumping off spot for us, because our flights from and to NYC were late in the day. What made it special was Villa San Ignacio - lovely, restful surroundings and probably best meals of our entire trip.

If your from the states it’s not exactly your idea of a “gated community” but the whole country is that way we were fine visiting local stores and even shut down the local bar one night ( my Spanish is beyond weak) and found it to be a great experien
