Love this hotel and is one of the best in Glenelg by far! Got an ocean view room and wow, it was definitely worth it. Its clean, quiet and and walking distance to the main town. Will stay again

The positive is that is on the beach and the tram is just outside. All the shops are just there. Stunning views, even if you get a hills view, you get an amazing sunrise. Overall is a bit dated and can get noisy, not from the hotel but from bars on Jetty road. The $300 pending deposit needs to change. I travel a lot in Australia and overseas and never had money put on hold. They just keep the card on file, or debit $1. It took 7 days to go back on your card, only because I rang to stop the transaction. As it seems a long time to wait for it. Otherwise it would probably take longer .. A couple of hours later the money was released. So why can’t this be actioned after check out?

Not as good as I would have liked for a big name hotel in a prime location. When we arrived only 1 of the 3 rooms I booked was ready for check in. I had requested that the 3 rooms be on the same floor but this did not happen. When we got to the room the hand towel in the bathroom had a dirty mark down the middle of it and the toilet seat did not stay up. These were rectified reasonably quickly after I alerted the hotel. On the third day of our stay, our room was made up but the dirty towels from the previous day were left on the floor in the bathroom and the dirty coffee cups were also left on the sink in the bathroom. The area outside the hotel is opposite the beach but didn’t feel overly safe at night time. There was also a lot of noise each night and early each morning outside the hotel.

Location is the best thing about this hotel. Decor and fittings of the room and common hotel areas were dated and felt like I had timewarped half a century into the past. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything happening in rooms around you. The room I stayed in had no lamps and there are no overhead lights - only the bedhead lights. I asked the hotel staff 4 times for a desk lamp so I could work at the desk which is located away from any windows, but one was never brought to me. Only a floor lamp with a bulb that had less brightness than my phone screen. The staff are polite to greet you but quickly adopt the same vacant look when you ask them for anything outside of the planned script they have for service. No kettle, no tea or coffee in the rooms, the room was freezing and the heater barely worked. "Bar Fridge" looked like something from the 1970s and was dirty. The room I stayed in looked NOTHING like the photos online. I was told I was "upgraded" from city view to ocean view but I was on level 4 - all I could see was a big wall and dirty air conditioner units with a sliver of the ocean over the top. There was also a weird smell in the common hallway - smelt a bit like a sewer.
