An historic hide-away on Pulteney Street, in the heart of the Adelaide CBD
Evelyn's Retreat is a self-contained apartment in the historic Ruthven Mansions; just steps from Rundle Mall, the North Terrace cultural precinct and the restaurants and bars of Rundle Street. Lofty ceilings, a bay window and romantic period detail evoke another age, yet luxury has not been forgotten. You will find modern appliances, underfloor heating and internet speeds that will make sure your stay will be one to remember.
The apartment sleeps up to 3 adults (or two adults and 2 children under 12 - if they are willing to share a bed), as there is a queen size bed in the main bedroom and a fold out sofa bed in the separate lounge.
Please be aware that although there is a lift, there is also a short flight of 9 steps in the hallway approaching the property.
We understand sometimes it is not possible to travel ‘off-peak’. We do not raise our prices according to the season. Our rates remain reasonable no matter when you stay.

It's an excellent place to stay!
Central location & outstanding natural charm & history of the apartment. I would happily stay there again!
Excellent apartment with everything you need for a great stay. Shopping, restaurants, pubs & entertainment all within a short walk. Will definitely stay again. Loved it!
The apartment was clean, nicely furnished, and well provisioned. The location is fantastic for an Adelaide stay and the owner was very responsive and helpful when we booked. We look forward to staying again in the future.
The apartment is both wonderfully located and beautifully appointed. The host provided a lot of useful information regarding the apartment and surrounds. Really enjoyed my stay here as a solo traveller.
We had an excellent stay at this apartment.
The location was excellent. We walked to the pickup point from which our winery tour started. We walked to every restaraurant (some excellent choices in the CBD). We also walked around the Botanical Gardens next door.
The apartment was clean and tidy, perfect for our needs for a small Adelaide getaway. The only small downside was the water pressure of the hot water in the shower; otherwise the place was perfect.
The host kindly let us leave our packed bags at the apartment as our flight out was quite late. Overall would definitely stay here again!
Evelyn’s Retreat lived up to all of our expectations based on the previous reviews that we had read about. Very high standard of cleanliness with modern appliances in a well set out apartment situated central to all conveniences in the CBD. Public transport all close handy which made it easy to get around town. We thoroughly recommend this accommodation to all couples visiting Adelaide requiring a quiet get away within striking distance of all on offer.
Thank you Robyn for having us to stay it is a credit to you!
My son & I stayed at Evelyn's Retreat while attending an event in Adelaide. We loved Evelyn's Retreat. We were a stone's throw away from public transport, shops, tourist attractions, churches, universities. Robyn had provided croissants, hot cross buns(it was Easter long weekend😁) butter & jam on our arrival. The unit was very clean, cosy and quiet. Just perfect after busy days out & about in beautiful Adelaide. During the day we could quickly go back in between sessions & then head out into the town refreshed for our next adventure. The kitchen had enough to make simple meals, appliances easy to use, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was compact & pristine. So convenient - it cost me $2.40 each way to & from the airport on the bus!
With the exception of the lounge rooms lacked natural daylight and to compensate the bedroom lighting could be improved. Lounge did have some sunshine through out the day but lighting for evenings also needs improvement. Live TV reception very poor. On a positive point kitchen is modern and well equipped with a good dining area. Appreciated the quality food and drink amenities provided. Bathroom was compact and modern. Could not operate the kitchen and bathroom underfloor heating.
