"It is a case of you get what you paid for. The breakfast was lousy. The shower was terrible and flooded the bathroom. The room was very clean and spacious for two people. The balcony was big and a great surprise. It did not feel like a hostel but more like a hotel.. The staff were very friendly. The air conditioning turned off when we left the room, not a major issue. Overall if you are on a limited budget it is worth looking into this place. It was in a great location."

My only minor complaint was that I found it impossible to turn off the air conditioning at night - I don't like to sleep with AC. "Our stay was quite nice. We were met by the caretaker who gave us our key. We paid in advance since this hotel does not gave a desk clerk. We asked for more tea bags, which we received with no problem before he left The shower and hot water were great. The entire bathroom was clean and contained small bottles of bath wash and shampoo. The tv stations were almost all jn Arabic but we did find one with English/American movies. We fou d the bed to be firm and comfortable. "

For travelers who are religious Jews: the place is pretty Shabbat-worthy--hard key on a carabiener, but be sure to set the clock on the microwave before Shabbat b/c otherwise no clocks in the room. Also no challah to be had in the Old City where this is though I assume in the new city (a drive or cab ride away) you could get it."
