We enjoyed our stay at the Campbell’s Hollow house in early September.
The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable, surrounded by flowers, bushes and trees and acres of dense forest beyond. Our pups loved the big yard with lots of things to sniff. We loved having our morning coffee rocking on the wrap around porch watching the sunrise – the view was breathtaking. It was an easy drive to Damascus for walks on the Virginia Creeper Trail and the Appalachian Trail. For the most part, it was relaxing and peaceful in Campbell’s Hollow, but for a couple of afternoons where we heard gunshots sounding like someone nearby doing target practice. I’m mentioning this for those visitors that may have pets sensitive to loud noises (like ours) or are Veterans with PTSD. Regardless, we enjoyed our stay at Campbell's Hollow and hope to visit again someday.

Incredible Location and Retreat
Location seemed a bit more remote than it actually was- which wasn’t a bad thing- the property itself is gorgeous, and the land is well maintained! The house was more spacious and accommodating than I and my family expected, and had many more amenities than most rental properties- which was a true blessing. The house was clean, although I agree with previous reviews that the sheets on the beds were very heavily fragranced. The rest of the house was clean, comfortable, and the location really was perfect. It was the best get-away for our family, and we so appreciate all the accommodations and wonderful extra touches. It was such a great trip, and we would definitely stay here again given the chance!

Wishing for a better way to critique
Our group had a great time being together at your house. The property is beautiful. Here are some comments which you may find helpful. #1. :( If someone had chemical sensitivities, entering your house would have sent them into shock. The multiple plug-in "air fresheners" were so intense... The sheets and pillows were over fragranced. Two of the couples got headaches because of the heavy scent of Fabreezed pillows / linens. They ended up stripping their beds and washing their linens after the first night. Fortunately the laundry detergent had no scent. #2 Safety issues: *unmarked uneven stairs or unexpected floor level changes. *covering the stair handrail with Christmas garlands is not practical or helpful for new renters entering #3 Kitchen issues: * lack of silverware: 3 table knives, 6 teaspoons in a house that is supposed to serve 10 * 2 coffee makers, but no hot pot or tea kettle * the refrigerator froze our fruit and salad #4 Bathroom issues: * One shower to serve 10 people * the toilet holding tank in the bathroom upstairs has mold and is not venting properly. #5 House size & price In our opinion, advertising this house as a place to sleep 10 is a stretch. 10 would easily fit if some of them are children and they don't mind: * sharing 2 double beds in one room * climbing the steep, narrow stairs to the 3rd floor. * using the tub (since there is only one shower). As a group, we were surprised by the total cost and then asked for housekeeping tip!

Family Weekend
We had a wonderful time exploring the area around Emory and Henry. Half of the family came from central VA and the other half came from middle TN so this was a great place to meet inbthe middle! The house was in an excellent location- off the beaten path, far enough away but also close enough to where we needed to be! We would love to rent again the next time we all meet up!

My family had a wonderful weekend at this house! The location is beautiful and near lots of things to do. The house had all the amenities we needed and was clean and ready to go upon arrival. If you’re looking to spend time exploring the Virginia Creeper Trail or a little longer trip to the Grayson Highlands or nearby towns, I would recommend this house.

Great time!
We rented this property so that we could ride the Creeper Trail nearby. It was a very comfortable home and had everything we needed. When we had issues getting the fireplace to turn on, the owners can right over to help. Had a wonderful weekend with an epic Easter egg on the vast grounds. Highly recommend the Creeper Trail. Definitely pack hand warmers, though!

Perfect slice of heaven in Virginia!
This property is ideal if you're looking for a roomy, quiet, and fully equipped place in close proximity to the Virginia Creeper trail. The large house sits on 18 partially wooded acres, providing opportunities for adults and young ones to enjoy themselves. We will definitely add this property to our favorites and look forward to staying again in the future. The icing on the cake was the seamless communication and attention to detail from the host. Crissy was very attentive and super fast to respond to our requests and questions.

Great place
This was a great place with one minor hiccup- the upstairs bathroom/toilet flooded and leaked into the mud room. Owners and property manager were very quick to respond and as long as we kept the plunger nearby it was not an issue again. Kitchen was fairly well stocked with appliances and seasonings! The house was awesome. I would recommend this spot to anyone!
