He also happily upgraded my room after a misunderstanding on the booking. Downsides were, no restaurant, which I took as a given when the hotel has photographs of meals on its various sites. "Der Heiderhof is a very classy hotel. Well appointed, beautifully decorated and a very helpful staff. The spa and work-out room were wonderful and the breakfast was excellent. There is not much to do in the immediate area but it is only 10 minutes to the city center and perhaps 20 minutes to all the outdoor activities of the AltMuhl nature preserve. My one disappointment was the bed. It was very hard, the pillow too flat, and the comforter too thick for a summer evening. I did not sleep well...

"The property is lovely, but it is located in a very quiet industrial area with limited dining options, although it is close to the autobahn. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The evening food in the hotel is limited to pizza and a cheese platter board, which are very nice. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and modern, with great bathrooms. However, the TV has no English channels."
