"This is a somewhat dated (quirky even?) hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel is well-worn, but our rooms were big by European standards. The bed was reasonably comfortable. Shower, while it took a bit to figure out how to turn it on, produced a good flow of plenty warm water. Parking on street after 7pm and before 9am is free. The carpet could be replaced, as it’s dated. Hotel is on a main boulevard and is convenient to all sorts of food and the theatre. All told, I would stay there again...

"A very stylish place, great restaurant with very helpful and friendly staff. Really loved the vibe, perhaps not for everyones taste as it is rather stark and intimidating. I really appreciated the uniqueness personally and it's nice that there was a gym/pool etc. Minor downside, no iron or ability to iron which is a frustration for a business traveller staying there only one night. "We had a great two night stay at the grand Astoria hotel. The staff were excellent parking our car and bringing all our luggage to the room while we went to the pool as we were early. The staff was over the top helpful at all times. It was in a great location to walk to the beach which the hotel looked after getting us our spot. All of the great restaurants and shops were right around the corner. We would definitely stay here again. "

"This property looks great from outside but it needs a full renovation badly. It felt like walking into a hotel in the early 90s. Carpets in the rooms are worn out and faded. Staff don’t show a lot of enthusiasm for what they do. Housekeeping was the worst. Upon arrival I noticed duvets were not very clean. A lot of hair on and in the duvet. I had to ask for them to be replaced. The shampoo and body wash container in the bathroom was empty throughout my stay. I travel with my own so didn’t need...
