"Although next to the forth bridge be mindful that most rooms that look out over the bridge are noisy. We had to upgrade to a better room as we are both very light sleepers and the noise from the traffic over the bridge was too noisy for us. On the whole the hotel food was good. Staff were most helpful and the location good. We got the train into Edinburgh from Queensferry north which is a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. Train into Edinburgh takes around 25 minutes. "The downstairs public area of the hotel (the lobby, bar and restaurant) is modern and very nicely decorated but once you get beyond to the corridors and bedrooms the furniture and furnishings show their age and clearly need some updating. Our room had worn/torn carpets with exposed gripper strips around the edge, peeling faux leather bed base and the body wash in the ensuite was empty. "Second time staying as a family in the lodges. Beautiful place, with nice pool and quiet gym area. We did have a bit of an issue with double payment being taken, but this was refunded as soon as we made the manager aware. Meal was nice and very well presented (though we were the only people eating so not much atmosphere). Staff all very professional and polite. Sure we will be back again at some point."
