"I was planning on camping a couple of nights near Keswick, weather not looking good for a late arrival so decided to stay at Derwentwater Hotel... so glad I did! - At check in I was greeted in a really professional manner, in the bar the staff were super friendly! That was my opening night. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, set me up fuel wise for my planned ascent of Skiddaw (walking past a farm I camped at 47 years ago on my first Scout Camp!!) My hike up Skiddaw, descending to Keswick and then back to hotel was great (nothing to do with hotel of course) BUT on return all staff I spoke to were interested in my day, to the extent that I was chatting to the hotel manager for over an hour!!!! This level of customer service and interest is rare and is really valued by me! Thank you to all at the Derwentwater Hotel for making my stay so enjoyable. If you want a pristine, brand new hotel - well, pay the price for it - but if you want great service, an amazing breakfast and the perfect location head to Portinscale!!"

"We loved our stay. 5 min walk from our favourite pubs. Parking was a bonus. Staff were friendly. Bar was a lovely area. Room was a great size and comfortable. Nice choice of breakfasts and food was frequently topped up."

"The property was very good. Fantastic views of scafell pike and surrounding area. We stayed in a pod and was surprised at how big and comfortable it was. The dining facilities were excellent. Great choice and ample serving..also the dinner menu available was very good and dined there every night due to the excellent choice and portions. "Cannot fault our recent stay, Property is very clean and tidy, room recently refurbished to a standard above most of the premium hotels I have visited .Owners very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble, breakfast was cooked fresh with a very good range of options.Pool complex was also clean tidy and very well maintained, water temperature was very comfortable, no shock to the system as you first emerge.Location of property seems a bit out of town, but in reality is only 5 min drive to harbour area or £5-7 taxi.Wifi is quick and free, streamed TV worked fine. There is a Pub and local shop within 100yds of propery but did not visit on this ocassion.No need as there is a honesty bar stocked with all the drinks and snacks you could need at very resonable prices."
