i passed through Washington, Georgia recently, a town where some of my family lived many years ago. The Robert Toombs Historic Site is located at 216 East Robert Toombs Avenue in Washington, Georgia. It was the home of Robert Toombs (1810-85), who was a pro-Union U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator, and then a Confederate General and Confederate Secretary of State during the American Civil War. Operated as a state historic site, the 19th-century period historic house museum also features exhibits about the life of Toombs. The house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1973.

"Was a great house! Clean and essentials provided. Beautiful. Awesome that all 6 of us had our own bathrooms. Although we are members of Savannah lakes, probably would be good to provide more info about use of the rec center, golf, etc. "

"Golf community with super amenities.. loved this property and would definitely do this again.. if you want to use the pool, you need to register as a guest before your trip.. go to the Knob Hill restaurant for the breakfast buffet! Make sure you have things to do as recreation, besides golf and hiking, are a hike to get to.. "
