"We had a nice short stop in Skaftafell. We arrived after 8PM and left by 830AM the next morning, but the hotel had everything we needed. They served a nice breakfast (we did not have dinner as we stopped in the prior town for dinner). The people at check-in were very friendly and had good advice on the trail right out the back up to the glaciers where you could go for a morning hike/run to see the glacier up close. "

Svartifoss waterfall surrounded by columnar basalt columns. The start of this hike was just a couple of feet from our campsite for the night and it's only about a 4 kilometer walk up to this waterfall with a great view of the glacier and a few smaller waterfalls on the way up
