"There was a calm, genteel feel to the hotel and grounds, a sense of grandeur past. The staff were helpful and polite. The grounds were lovely and we enjoyed having a leisurely breakfast in the gardens. It would have been good to have some help taking heavy bags up the stone stairs as there did not seem to be a lift/elevator."

"Very disappointed for what was a very expensive two night stay in very basic accommodation. Extra charges for towels and for cleaning (including collect and taking back our own linen). No working aircon which meant really uncomfortable sleep. "

"Very ancient and beautiful building and rooms to match. Very pleased with location and friendly helpful owner and assistant. Disappointed that the restaurant was not open in evenings and wifi was not working. Owner was very helpful in recommending and making reservation at nearby excellent restaurant for the evening."
