We were greeted by someone that spoke no english which was quite uneasy seeing as how we just arrived on the island at 6pm (sunset) and wanted to familiarize ourselves with the space. Instead as the sun went down, we were greeted by a guy with a flashlight which seemed to be telling us he was the night guard and told us to yell his name if we heard anything. "We had a great stay at Hotel La Omaja! The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a beautiful view of the lake and the volcanoes. The rooms were lovely with AC, fans and hot water. It was a little difficult to access as the final stretch is all dirt roads and the driveway is very steep. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!"

"Owner does not care to do room service on second day. You need to carry your own luggage on a unpaved long and winding road. You need to take local bus to town. Stay away this hotel for your convinence"

"Finca Ometepe is tucked up against the Volcano Madera about 2km past the town of Balgue. They have many fruit trees, fresh eggs, and even homemade goat cheese when we stayed there. The casita kitchen is well equipped. We were warmly welcomed and really enjoyed our stay here."
