"You cant check in early because theyre closed from 11am to 5 pm. They email you a code to get in however the machine was broken. So we had to wait to get in until someone arrived which thankfully was early. The room was very bare and basic, like a college dorm room. Hard beds. 1 pillow and 1 towel only. Nothing extra. "Stunning little house with French imperial history. Received warmly by the lady at reception who suggested that I park my bike in the quad, even though the town of 2000 inhabitants is very safe. Lovely room, spotless, looks recently renovated. The town itself is also very charming and restaurants and shops are within very close walking distance."

"Booked this as a stopover on the way back to UK from Italy and boy did we fall lucky. We stayed in a lodge in the grounds and it was comfortable, clean and larger than we expected. However the highlight of our trip was the main building where there is a lovely bar with great staff and the outstanding restaurant.
