"Lake Hotel Gistihusid Egisstadir was night 6 for us on our journey around Iceland’s famous ring road. This hotel was seemed a little out of the way but perfectly placed for our itinerary. There was an on-site restaurant, and many groups stayed for the night. The atmosphere was vibrant, and the guests all seemed very happy. We stayed in a ground-floor room that overlooked the countryside. It was remote and peaceful. We had a lovely evening here. "

"We stayed for one night in a cabin/chalet behind the hotel. The concierge was extremely helpful and polite, despite clearly being alone at work (it was a Sunday night). Check in from a reservation was smooth and convenient. There is not much to do in the area, so we had a couple of beers in the bar/restaurant area and went to bed. The chalet was clean and well-equipped for a longer stay, with appliances, tableware, towels, and a comfortable sleeping arrangement. I would highly recommend this...

"A good cottage to stay in the middle of nowhere. The cottage is clean and comfortable. Quite roomy for our family of 4. And the living room is kind of nice; private kitchen and bath is another good things. We arrived in a rainy days. This cottage gave us the comfort feeling and restful night."

"This adorable little cabin was perfect for our stay traveling around the Ring Road! My grandmother and I LOVED this cozy place. It was nice to have a cabin all to ourselves and our own beds that were very comfortable! The TV and wifi worked wonderfully (it has been one of the only places with a TV on our stay so far) so we enjoyed a nice movie and coziness on the comfortable couch while it rained at night. "The most charming property! I’ve been traveling around the whole country and this is my favorite accommodation so far. Easy check-in!"

"This was a quaint cabin that we stayed in and the owner was very good with communication. This is an extremely beautiful area and allowed us to visit a beautiful town next to the area. There are several waterfalls and hiking opportunities and I believe we could’ve used a kayak if we asked, but we did not have time to do this. The kitchenette was adequate for cooking simple meals. "

"We enjoyed our stay here. The room was comfortable and the owners made a big effort to fix the tv in our room that was not working."

"House was beautiful and clean. However it does have mice. This would not have been an issue had we have known but only found out after the first night when they ate my chocolate which would not have been left out had we known. We also found droppings in the kitchen draws and fireplace behind which was a mousetrap! The facilites were good however we could not use the tv as did not have the code and the owner did not respond to multiple requests for it."

"The property was clean and the room spacious. The front desk check-in was easy and so was check-out. I was a bit confused about whether or not I'd need special instructions for check-in, but actually if you are going to arrive in their regular time window (4-10pm) then you don't need to worry about any special instructions. In addition, the included breakfast was great. I also loved the snowy views from the window and the ease of parking close to the front door. Thank you for a great stay!"
